Abstract

A method for controlling fishing hardware and displaying fishing information which includes running an application on a computing device having a display for displaying the application, wherein the application is configured to display and control a fishing lure configuration of a fishing lure. The method further including establishing a connection between the computing device and the fishing lure which includes equipment capable of emitting sounds resembling the prey of a fish, thereby enabling alteration of the fishing lure configuration and which sounds may be emitted. The method further including updating the fishing lure configuration with the application.

Claims

What is claimed is:

1 . A method for controlling fishing hardware and displaying fishing information, comprising:
running an application on a computing device having a display for displaying said application, said application configured to display and control a fishing lure configuration of a fishing lure in application-controlled communication with said computing device; establishing a connection between said computing device and a system, said system comprising said fishing lure, said fishing lure comprising reversibly programmable memory, said fishing lure exhibiting said fishing lure configuration, wherein said fishing lure configuration variably, under control of said application, alternatively is enabled to emit one or more sounds resembling aquatic life; and updating said fishing lure configuration with said application.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein said one or more sounds are replaceably stored on said reversibly programmable memory and said fishing lure configuration is variable under control of said computing device, and wherein said application is controlling said computing device to activate at least one of said one or more sounds to be emitted via said fishing lure.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein said updating said fishing lure configuration with said application comprises downloading at least one of said one or more sounds to said fishing lure.

4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein said updating said fishing lure configuration with said application comprises removing at least one of said one or more sounds from said fishing lure.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the system further comprises:
non-aqueous ambient conditions monitoring means for measuring and transmitting ambient atmospheric condition data; aqueous ambient conditions monitoring means for measuring and transmitting ambient aquatic condition data; a global positioning system (GPS) for obtaining and reporting a GPS position; and database means configured for receiving, storing, and reporting one or more of said ambient atmospheric condition data, said ambient aquatic condition data, said GPS position, and said fishing lure configuration, the method further comprising storing, via said application, one or more of said ambient atmospheric condition data, said ambient aquatic condition data, said GPS position, and said fishing lure configuration in said database means.

6 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
predicting a fishing lure configuration based on a global positioning system (GPS) position obtained via a global positioning system, and corresponding geographically correlated fishing-related data; and displaying results of said predicting to a user via said application.

7 . The method of claim 6 , further comprising programming said fishing lure with said fishing lure configuration that is the result of said predicting.

8 . The method of claim 7 , wherein said fishing lure configuration includes configuration of a light on said fishing lure.

9 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising indicating fishing conditions to a user via said display as a color-based system, wherein said indicating is based on one or more of geographic information and a GPS position obtained via a global positioning system.

10 . The method of claim 9 , wherein said color-based system indicates first fishing conditions as green, second fishing conditions as yellow, and third fishing conditions as red, wherein said first fishing conditions are more desirable than said second fishing conditions, which are more desirable than said third fishing conditions.

11 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising indicating fishing conditions to a user via said display as a numeric scale-based system, wherein said indicating is based on one or more of geographic information and a GPS position obtained via a global positioning system.

12 . The method of claim 1 , wherein said system further comprises an electric fish length measurement system that determines a fish length, and said method further comprises:
establishing a connection with said electric fish length measurement system; and storing said fish length in database means configured for receiving, storing, and reporting data comprising said fish length.

13 . The method of claim 1 , wherein said system further comprises an electric fish weighing system that determines a fish weight, and said method further comprises:
establishing a connection with said electric fish weighing system; and storing said fish weight in database means configured for receiving, storing, and reporting data comprising said fish weight.

14 . The method of claim 1 , wherein said system further comprises an automated cull system, and said method further comprises:
establishing a connection with said automated cull system; and establishing a connection with database means configured for receiving, storing, and reporting data comprising a fish weight and having said fish weight stored therein; indicating a first fish to cull with said automated cull system based on measured said fish weight reported via said database means.

15 . The method of claim 1 , wherein said application is run on a wireless device.

16 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
associating a note generated by a user with said fishing lure configuration and a GPS position obtained via a global positioning system; and storing said note in database means configured for receiving, storing, and reporting data comprising said note.
