Abstract
Systems and methods for personalized video display include providing an interface on the touch device, maintaining a layout template that includes a primary video display window and a user selectable information window, and sending the layout template to the television. The television can display the template layout and embedded content. Additionally, the touch device can detect gestures from a user and communicate instructions to the television based on the gesture input.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A mixed media viewing system, comprising
a cloud based computing system configured to communicate with a plurality of remotely located applications executing on handheld devices; a memory system maintaining a media viewing application configured to be executed by a processor of a wireless handheld device; and the media viewing application operable, when executed on the wireless hand held device:
to communicate with the cloud based computing system;
to present a personalized viewing window on a display of the hand held device;
to initiate presentation of a springing pane within the viewing window in response to a user gesture, wherein the springing pane presents textual media information, further wherein the springing pane is an HTML5 widget;
to present a video media within a video pane of the viewing window, wherein information representing the video media is received by the given wireless hand held device via a streaming delivery.
2 . The mixed media viewing system of claim 1 , further comprising more than one thousand instances of the media viewing application, further wherein the textual media information is selected from a group consisting of Twitter feed information, Facebook information, information about the video media, electronic mail messaging information, other messaging information, and text messaging information.
3 . The mixed media viewing system of claim 1 , wherein the springing pane is located to the right of the video pane.
4 . The mixed media viewing system of claim 1 , wherein the user gesture is a finger swipe.
5 . The mixed media viewing system of claim 1 , wherein the customizable viewing window is transmitted to a television for presentation on the television.
6 . The mixed media viewing system of claim 1 , wherein the information representing the video media is received by the wireless hand held device via a streaming delivery from a separate device connected to a local area network to which the wireless handheld device is connected.
7 . The mixed media viewing system of claim 6 , wherein the media viewing application is further operable, when executed on the wireless hand held device, to display guide information, to facilitate a searching of the guide information, to recognize a selection of a particular content, channel, or content source, and to
request a different collection of information representing a different video media receivable by the given wireless hand held device via a streaming delivery from an Internet based device.
8 . The mixed media viewing system of claim 7 , wherein the content source is a YouTube channel
9 . The mixed media viewing system of claim 7 , wherein the content source is a Netflix title.
10 . A media system, comprising:
a cloud based computing system configured: (1) to communicate with a plurality of remotely located applications; and (2) to maintain video guide information for the plurality of remotely located applications; a memory system maintaining a media viewing application configured to be executed by a processor of a wireless enabled device; and the media viewing application operable, when executed on the wireless enabled device:
to present a viewing window on a display associated with the wireless enabled device wherein the viewing window comprises at least one video viewing pane and one messaging pane;
to display guide information providing at least a partial listing of available content sources, wherein the available content sources include YouTube and Netflix;
to facilitate a searching through the guide information;
to recognize a selection of a particular media content; and,
to request a streaming delivery of information representing the particular media content from an Internet based device.
11 . The media system of claim 10 , wherein the messaging pane is a springing pane presented in response to a user gesture.
12 . The media system of claim 10 , wherein at least a portion of the media viewing application is coded using HTML5.
13 . The media system of claim 10 , wherein the media viewing application is further operable, when executed by the wireless enabled device, to send a collection of information to a television that is connected to a local area network to which the given wireless enabled device is connected to allow the television to present a representation of the viewing window on the television.
14 . The media system of claim 13 , wherein the media viewing application is further operable to present video received from a first video source in the video viewing pane, and to present video received from a second video source in a second video viewing pane.
15 . The media system of claim 14 , wherein the first source is a Internet based component and the second source is a component within the local area network to which the given wireless enabled device is connected.
16 . The media system of claim 13 , wherein the media viewing application is further operable to allow the given wireless enabled device to act as a wireless trackpad user interface for the television.
17 . A mixed media viewing system, comprising:
a network based computing system configured to communicate with a plurality of remotely located applications executing on handheld devices; a memory system maintaining a video viewing application configured to be executed by a processor of a handheld device; and the video viewing application operable, when executed on the handheld device:
to communicate with the network based computing system;
to present a multi-pane viewing window on a display of the given handheld device;
to allow a user to customize the viewing window;
to send a collection of information to a television that is connected to a local area network to which the given wireless enabled device is connected to allow the television to present a representation of the viewing window on the television;
to allow the given wireless enabled device to act as a wireless trackpad user interface for the television.
18 . The mixed media viewing system of claim 17 , wherein the multi-pane viewing window comprises a video viewing pane and a springing social media viewing pane.
19 . The mixed media viewing system of claim 18 , wherein the video viewing application comprises at least one HTML5 widget.
20 . The video viewing system of claim 19 , wherein the video viewing application is further operable to simultaneously and continuously present multiple panes within the multi-pane viewing window.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
