Electronic money system and electronic money terminal
Abstract
An electronic money system terminates communication to a management center indistinguishably from a case in which the communication to the management center is completed within a predetermined period when it is impossible to complete the communication to the management center within the predetermined period. By switching an operation mode, a predetermined portable terminal is used instead of a communication line to upload and download data. When it is impossible to obtain data required for processing through the communication line, processing is performed based on data possessed up until that time.

1 . An electronic money transaction apparatus comprising:
control circuitry configured to:
electronically compare a payment amount with an amount of electronic money in order to determine whether the amount of the electronic money is sufficient to pay the payment amount;
electronically set an amount to be paid using the electronic money in case the amount of the electronic money is not sufficient to pay the payment amount; and
electronically update the amount of the electronic money to an updated amount of the electronic money by subtracting the amount to be paid using the electronic money from the amount of the electronic money.
2 . The electronic money transaction apparatus according to claim 1 , further comprising:
a reader/writer configured to wirelessly receive the electronic money from an electronic card before the control circuitry electronically compares the payment amount with the amount of the electronic money.
3 . The electronic money transaction apparatus according to claim 2 , wherein the control circuitry is configured to instruct the reader/writer to transmit and receive predetermined data to and from the electronic card using a mutual authentication key.
4 . The electronic money transaction apparatus according to claim 1 , further comprising:
a reader/writer configured to wirelessly receive the electronic money from a cellular phone before the control circuitry electronically compares the payment amount with the amount of the electronic money.
5 . The electronic money transaction apparatus according to claim 4 , wherein the control circuitry is configured to instruct the reader/writer to transmit and receive predetermined data to and from the cellular phone using a mutual authentication key.
6 . An electronic money transaction processing method comprising:
electronically, by control circuitry, comparing a payment amount with an amount of electronic money in order to determine whether the amount of the electronic money is sufficient to pay the payment amount; electronically, by the control circuitry, setting an amount to be paid using the electronic money in case the amount of the electronic money is not sufficient to pay the payment amount; and electronically, by the control circuitry, updating the amount of the electronic money to a updated amount of the electronic money by subtracting the amount to be paid using the electronic money from the amount of the electronic money.
7 . The electronic money transaction processing method according to claim 6 , further comprising:
wirelessly, by a reader/writer, receiving the electronic money from an electronic card before the control circuitry electronically compares the payment amount with the amount of the electronic money.
8 . The electronic money transaction processing method according to claim 7 , further comprising:
electronically, by the control circuitry, instructing the reader/writer to transmit and receive predetermined data to and from the electronic card using a mutual authentication key.
9 . The electronic money transaction processing method according to claim 6 , further comprising:
wirelessly, by a reader/writer, receiving the electronic money from a cellular phone before the control circuitry electronically compares the payment amount with the amount of the electronic money.
10 . The electronic money transaction processing method according to claim 9 , further comprising:
electronically, by the control circuitry, instructing the reader/writer to transmit and receive predetermined data to and from the cellular phone using a mutual authentication key.
