A metal complex is disclosed. In an embodiment the metal complex includes at least one metal atom M and at least one ligand L attached to the metal atom M, wherein the ligand L has the following structure: wherein E 1 and E 2 are oxygen, wherein the substituent R 1 is selected from the group consisting of branched or unbranched, fluorinated aliphatic hydrocarbons with 1 to 10 C atoms, wherein n=1 to 5, wherein the substituent R 2 is selected from the group consisting of —CN, branched or unbranched aliphatic hydrocarbons with 1 to 10 C atoms, aryl and heteroaryl, and wherein m=0 to at most 5−n.

at least one metal atom M and at least one ligand L attached to the metal atom M, wherein the ligand L has the following structure:

wherein the substituent R 1 is selected from the group consisting of branched or unbranched, fluorinated aliphatic hydrocarbons with 1 to 10 C atoms,
wherein n=1 to 5,
wherein the substituent R 2 is selected from the group consisting of —CN, branched or unbranched aliphatic hydrocarbons with 1 to 10 C atoms, aryl and heteroaryl, and
wherein m=0 to at most 5−n.
2 . The metal complex according to claim 1 , wherein the metal M is a main group metal.
3 . The metal complex according to claim 1 , wherein the metal M is a main group metal of groups 13 to 15 of the periodic table of elements.
4 . The metal complex according to claim 1 , wherein the metal M is Bi.
5 . The metal complex according to claim 1 , wherein the metal M is Bi in an oxidation state III.
6 . The metal complex according to claim 1 , wherein the substituent R 1 is an at least difluorinated substituent.
7 . The metal complex according to claim 1 , wherein the substituent R 1 is a perfluorinated substituent.
8 . The metal complex according to claim 1 , wherein the substituent R 1 is a —CF 3 group.
9 . The metal complex according to claim 1 , wherein the substituent R 1 is a —CF 3 group and the metal M is Bi.
10 . The metal complex according to claim 1 , wherein the ligand L is attached to the metal atom M by the following form of coordination
