Abstract

An image forming apparatus capable of switching power state between a first power state and a second power state, which is lower in power than the first power state, shifts from the second power state to the first power state. In a case where the image forming apparatus shifts to the second power state in response to a current time reaching a set time, the image forming apparatus is controlled not to shift from the second power state to the first power state in response to an object approaching the image forming apparatus being detected.

a printer; a scanner; and a controller which controls the printer and the scanner, wherein power supply to the controller is stopped in the first sleep state and the second sleep state.

5 . The image forming apparatus according to claim 4 , wherein power supply to the printer and the scanner is stopped in the first sleep state and the second sleep state.

6 . The image forming apparatus according to claim 1 , further comprising:
a user interface, wherein the image forming apparaus is able to return in accordance with the user interface receiving a user operation in any of these sleep states.

7 . The image forming apparatus according to claim 1 , further comprising:
a display unit, wherein the display unit displays a setting screen for input of the setting.

8 . The image forming apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein power consumption in the first sleep state is greater than power consumption in the second sleep sate.

9 . The image forming apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the power controller shifts the image forming apparatus to the first sleep state and the second sleep state according to the setting that has been set in advance, on a basis that a current time becomes a predetermined time.

10 . The image forming apparatus according to claim 9 , wherein the predetermined time is set for each day of a week.

11 . The image forming apparatus according to claim 1 , further comprising:
a power supply unit which supplies first power to the network interface and second power to the human sensor, wherein the power controller stops supply of the second power to the human sensor or continues to supply the second power to the human sensor, according to the setting that has been set in advance, on the basis that the predetermined sleep condition is satisfied.

12 . The image forming apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the predetermined data is a packet addressed to the image forming apparatus.

13 . The image forming apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the human sensor is a pyroelectric sensor.

14 . The image forming apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the human sensor is an infrared sensor sensing infrared light.

15 . An image forming apparatus comprising:
a human sensor; a user interface; and a power controller which shift the image forming apparatus to a first sleep state or a second sleep state, according to a setting that has been set in advance, on a basis that a predetermined sleep condition is satisfied, wherein the image forming apparatus is able to return from the first sleep state in accordance with the human sensor sensing a human and in accordance with the user interface receiving a user operation, and the image forming apparatus is able to return in accordance with the user interface receiving a user operation but is not able to return in accordance with the human sensor sensing a human.

16 . The image forming apparatus according to claim 15 , wherein power supply to the human sensor is stopped in the second sleep state.

17 . The image forming apparatus according to claim 15 , wherein the power controller is able to return the image forming apparatus from the first sleep state in accordance with the human sensor sensing a human and in accordance with the user interface receiving a user operation, and is able to return the image forming apparatus from the second sleep state in accordance with the user interface receiving a user operation.
