Abstract

There are provided a lens having excellent mechanical strength, as well as an optical component employing the lens. The lens is a lens having a circular shape when viewed in a plan view, the lens having a thickness of not less than 1 mm and not more than 11 mm at a lens center, the lens having a lens diameter of not less than 2 mm and not more than 50 mm, the lens having a curvature of not less than −0.5 mm −1 and not more than 0.5 mm −1 at the lens center.

1 . A lens having a circular shape when viewed in a plan view,
 the lens having a thickness of not less than 1 mm and not more than 11 mm at a lens center, the lens having a lens diameter of not less than 2 mm and not more than 50 mm, the lens having a curvature of not less than −0.5 mm −1  and not more than 0.5 mm −1  at the lens center.   
     
     
         2 . The lens according to  claim 1 , wherein
 the thickness of the lens at the lens center and the lens diameter of the lens at the lens center exhibit a relation of the following formula (A):
   Lens diameter (mm)≦20×thickness (mm)−50   (A).
 
   
     
     
         3 . The lens according to  claim 1 , wherein the lens is a biconvex lens. 
     
     
         4 . The lens according to  claim 1 , wherein the lens is a meniscus lens. 
     
     
         5 . The lens according to  claim 1 , wherein the lens is a diffractive lens. 
     
     
         6 . An optical component comprising:
 the lens recited in  claim 1 ; and   a diamond like carbon film covering at least a portion of an entrance surface of the lens.   
     
     
         7 . An optical component comprising:
 the lens recited in  claim 1 ; and   an anti-reflection film covering at least a portion of an entrance surface of the lens.
