Abstract

Embodiments concern methods and compositions for treating or preventing a bacterial infection, particularly infection by a Staphylococcus bacterium. Aspects include methods and compositions for providing a passive immune response against the bacteria. In certain embodiments, the methods and compositions involve an antibody that binds Coagulase (Coa).

A method of treating or preventing a  Staphylococcus  infection in a subject comprising administering to the subject an effective amount of a composition comprising a Coa binding antibody comprising the amino acid sequences of the CDR 1, 2, and 3 domains from both the heavy and light chains of the antibody from host cell ATCC Accession number PTA-124061.
