Panel with core layer

Abstract

A panel includes a base layer configured to have plural first protuberances; a core layer disposed on the base layer and configured to have plural second protuberances, wherein one or more of the plural second protuberances have first slots in a top portion; inserts provided on the base layer and inside the one or more of the plural second protuberances of the core layer; and a top layer in direct contact with the plural first protuberances and the plural second protuberances and configured to have second slots that correspond to the first slots. The inserts are exposed to ambient through the first slots and the second slots.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A panel comprising:
 a base layer configured to have plural first protuberances;   a core layer disposed on the base layer and configured to have plural second protuberances, wherein one or more of the plural second protuberances have first slots in a top portion;   inserts provided on the base layer and inside the one or more of the plural second protuberances of the core layer; and   a top layer in direct contact with the plural first protuberances and the plural second protuberances and configured to have second slots that correspond to the first slots,   wherein the inserts are exposed to ambient through the first slots and the second slots.   
     
     
         2 . The panel of  claim 1 , wherein the inserts are made of plywood or wood. 
     
     
         3 . The panel of  claim 1 , wherein the inserts are configured to receive a fastener. 
     
     
         4 . The panel of  claim 1 , wherein the core layer further comprises:
 plural openings configured to accommodate the plural first protuberances of the base layer.   
     
     
         5 . The panel of  claim 1 , wherein the core layer further comprises:
 plural third protuberances configured to overlay over the plural first protuberances so that tops of the plural first protuberances are configured to directly contact the top layer.   
     
     
         6 . A panel comprising:
 a base layer configured to have plural first protuberances;   a core layer disposed on the base layer and configured to have plural second protuberances, wherein one or more of the plural second protuberances are made of a wood-like material; and   a top layer in direct contact with the plural first protuberances and the plural second protuberances and configured to have slots that correspond to the plural second protuberances.   
     
     
         7 . The panel of  claim 6 , wherein the core layer is made of plywood or wood. 
     
     
         8 . The panel of  claim 6 , wherein the core layer further comprises:
 plural openings configured to accommodate the plural first protuberances of the base layer.   
     
     
         9 . A panel comprising:
 a base layer configured to have plural first protuberances;   a core layer disposed on the base layer and configured to have openings to accommodate the plural first protuberances; and   a top layer in direct contact with the plural first protuberances and the core layer and configured to have slots that communicate with the core layer.   
     
     
         10 . The panel of  claim 9 , wherein the core layer is made of plywood or wood. 
     
     
         11 . The panel of  claim 9 , wherein the core layer completely occupies a space defined by the base layer and the top layer. 
     
     
         12 . The panel of  claim 9 , wherein the slots are configured to accommodate a fastener. 
     
     
         13 . The panel of  claim 12 , wherein the fastener is a nail or a screw.
