Claims

Abstract

Bioresorbable inflatable devices and tunnel incision tool and methods for treating and enlarging a tissue or an organ or a tube or a vessel or a cavity. The device is composed of a hollow expanding pouch made of a resorbable material that can be attached to a filling element. The pouch can be filled with a biocompatible materials, one or more times in few days interval, after the insertion of the device. While filling the pouch every few days the tissue expands and the filling material if it is bioactive start to function. The tunnel incision tool composed of a little blade that emerges from the surface of the tool in order to make shallow incisions in the surrounding tissue therefore enabling easy expansion of the tissue. This device and method can be used for example for: horizontal and vertical bone augmentation in the jaws and the tunnel incision tool is used to make shallow incisions in the periosteum when using the tunnel technique, sinus augmentation when the device is placed beneath the Schneiderian tissue, vessels widening if the pouch become a stent etc.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A device including a cannula, an expandable inflatable container and a filling material for displacing the Schneiderian membrane from the floor of the maxillary sinus in the process of dental implant surgery to treat normal human patients in need for enlargement of the height of the human maxillary alveolar ridge to enable the insertion of a conventional screwed dental implant for normal human patients, said device comprising:
 a cannula sized for insertion through an opening in said human maxillary alveolar ridge towards said Schneiderian membrane while said opening being sized so said conventional screwed dental implant will engage all the bony walls of said opening, said device further includes an expandable inflatable container, connector and an extension tube, said connector comprising a proximal portion and, a distal portion, said distal portion includes a distal tube, said distal tube of said connector being inserted through a proximal end of said cannula inside said cannula, at least part of said container being inside said cannula so said distal tube of said connector being together with said at least part of said container inside said cannula, said proximal portion of said connector being connected to said extension tube, said extension tube being connected to an injecting element including a filling material, so when said injecting element is activated said filling material is advanced through said extension tube and said distal tube of said connector inside said container to expand said container distally to said distal end of said cannula several directions including also along the proximal-distal axis so the length of said container along the proximal-distal axis being also enlarged to displace said Schneiderian membrane.   
     
     
         2 . The device of  claim 1 , wherein a distal end of said connector being located proximally to said distal end of said cannula. 
     
     
         3 . The device of  claim 1 , wherein a proximal portion of said container being inside said cannula, said filling material inside said cannula is passing through and touching said proximal portion of said container proximally to said distal end of said cannula. 
     
     
         4 . The device of  claim 1 , wherein at least part of said container being advanced from inside said cannula distally to said distal end of said cannula only by the advancement of said filling material. 
     
     
         5 . The device of  claim 1 , wherein said container being made at least partially from a bin-dissipative material and said filling material promotes the growth of bone. 
     
     
         6 . The device of  claim 1 , wherein the length of said cannula is larger than the height of said human alveolar ridge and said cannula includes an external thread for engaging said bony walls. 
     
     
         7 . The device of  claim 1 , wherein a proximal portion of said cannula includes inner screw threads, said distal portion of said connector includes outer screw threads, at least part of said distal portion of said connector threadably receivable in said proximal portion of said cannula, at least part of said container being located inside the distal portion of said cannula. 
     
     
         8 . The device of  claim 1 , wherein said container before being expanded being completely inside said cannula. 
     
     
         9 . The device of  claim 1 , wherein said proximal portion of said connector being wider than said distal portion of said connector. 
     
     
         10 . The device of  claim 1 , wherein at least part of said proximal portion of said connector being outside said cannula. 
     
     
         11 . The device of  claim 9 , wherein at least part of said proximal portion of said connector being outside said cannula. 
     
     
         12 . The device of  claim 1 , wherein said connector being fixated to said cannula. 
     
     
         13 . The device of  claim 1 , wherein said connector is a rigid tube. 
     
     
         14 . The device of  claim 1 , wherein said connector is a straight tube and said extension tube being bended. 
     
     
         15 . The device of  claim 1 , wherein a distal end of said extension tube being fixated inside said proximal portion of said connector. 
     
     
         16 . The device of  claim 1 , wherein said distal end of said connector being located proximally to the proximal end of said container. 
     
     
         17 . The device of  claim 1 , wherein at least part of said container being advanced from inside said cannula distally to the distal end of said cannula. 
     
     
         18 . The device of  claim 9 , wherein at least part of said distal tube of said connector being narrower than inner diameter of said cannula so as to leave a space between said at least part of said distal the of said connector and said cannula. 
     
     
         19 . The device of  claim 9 , wherein at least part of said distal tube of said connector being narrower than an inner diameter of said cannula so as to leave a space between said at least part of said distal tube of said connector and said cannula. 
     
     
         20 . The device of  claim 19 , wherein said space surrounds said at least part of said distal tube of said connector.
