Abstract

Methods, apparatuses and storage medium associated with cooperative provision of personalized user functions using shared device and personal device are disclosed herein. In various embodiments, a personal device (PD) method may include receiving, by a personal device of a user, a request to perform a user function to be cooperatively provided by the personal device and a shared device (SD) configured for use by multiple users; and cooperating with the shared device, by the personal device, to provide the requested user function personalized to the user of the personal device. In various embodiments, a SD method may include similar receiving and cooperating operations, performed by the SD. Other embodiments may be disclosed or claimed.

         13 . An apparatus capable of being used in association with a smartphone and at least one remote server, the apparatus being capable, when the apparatus is in operation, of communicating via an Internet network with the at least one remote server, the apparatus comprising:
 at least one audio/video media content rendering system, the at least one audio/video media content rendering system comprising:
 a television and box device, the at least one audio/video media content rendering system being for use in rendering, at least in part, streaming media content to be received and rendered by the at least one audio/video media content rendering system; 
 at least one multi-core processor; 
 storage to store instructions that are capable of being executed, at least in part, by the at least one multi-core processor, the instructions when executed, at least in part, by the at least one multi-core processor resulting in the at least one audio/video media content rendering system being capable of performing operations comprising:
 transmitting information for use in identifying the at least one audio/video media content rendering system to the smartphone; 
 receiving other information for use in identifying the smartphone to the at least one audio/video media content rendering system; 
 after the transmitting of the information and receiving of the other information, receiving control information from the smartphone for use in controlling, at least in part, the operation of the at least one audio/video media content rendering system, the control information being based, at least in part, upon at least one user input to be received, at least in part, via the smartphone; 
 based, at least in part, upon at least one user request received, at least in part, via the smartphone, transmitting from the at least one audio/video media content rendering system to the smartphone for rendering by the smartphone at least one portion of the streaming media content; 
 
   wherein:
 the at least one remote server is capable of associating user facial recognition-related information with (1) a user of the at least one audio/video media content rendering system and of the smartphone and (2) the at least one audio/video media content rendering system and the smartphone; and
 in the operation of the at least one audio/video media content rendering system, the instructions are capable of being provided to the storage, at least in part, via a wireless communication interface of the at least one audio/video media content rendering system. 
 
   
     
     
         14 . The apparatus of  claim 13 , wherein:
 the at least one remote server comprises a cloud computing server and/or e-commerce server; and   the at least one user input is to select, at least in part, manner of rendering of the streaming media content by the at least one audio/video media content rendering system.   
     
     
         15 . The apparatus of  claim 13 , wherein:
 the at least one portion of the streaming media content is capable of being uploaded to at least one social network server via the smartphone; and   the at least one audio/video media content rendering system and/or the smartphone are capable of being used, at least in part, in facial recognition-related image capture to be used in association, at least in part, with the user facial recognition-related information.   
     
     
         16 . The apparatus of  claim 13 , wherein:
 the at least one audio/video media content rendering system and/or the smartphone are capable of gesture recognition for use in association with control of the operation of the at least one audio/video media content rendering system.   
     
     
         17 . The apparatus of  claim 13 , wherein:
 the at least one audio/video media content rendering system is capable of displaying via the television at least one picture-in-picture; and   the at least one user input is to change size of the at least one picture-in-picture.   
     
     
         18 . At least one computer-readable storage medium storing instructions that are capable of being executed by an apparatus, the apparatus being capable of being used in association with a smartphone and at least one remote server, the apparatus being capable, when the apparatus is in operation, of communicating via an Internet network with the at least one remote server, the apparatus comprising at least one audio/video media content rendering system, the at least one audio/video media content rendering system comprising a television and box device, the at least one audio/video media content rendering system being for use in rendering, at least in part, streaming media content to be received and rendered by the at least one audio/video media content rendering system, the instructions being capable of being executed, at least in part, by at least one multi-core processor of the apparatus, the instructions when executed, at least in part, by the at least one multi-core processor resulting in the at least one audio/video media content rendering system being capable of performing operations comprising:
 transmitting information for use in identifying the at least one audio/video media content rendering system to the smartphone;   receiving other information for use in identifying the smartphone to the at least one audio/video media content rendering system;   after the transmitting of the information and receiving of the other information, receiving control information from the smartphone for use in controlling, at least in part, the operation of the at least one audio/video media content rendering system, the control information being based, at least in part, upon at least one user input to be received, at least in part, via the smartphone;   based, at least in part, upon at least one user request received, at least in part, via the smartphone, transmitting from the at least one audio/video media content rendering system to the smartphone for rendering by the smartphone at least one portion of the streaming media content;   wherein:
 the at least one remote server is capable of associating user facial recognition-related information with (1) a user of the at least one audio/video media content rendering system and of the smartphone and (2) the at least one audio/video media content rendering system and the smartphone; and 
 in the operation of the at least one audio/video media content rendering system, the instructions are capable of being provided to storage of the at least one audio/video media content rendering system, at least in part, via a wireless communication interface of the at least one audio/video media content rendering system. 
   
     
     
         19 . The at least one computer-readable storage medium of  claim 18 , wherein:
 the at least one remote server comprises a cloud computing server and/or e-commerce server; and   the at least one user input is to select, at least in part, manner of rendering of the streaming media content by the at least one audio/video media content rendering system.   
     
     
         20 . The at least one computer-readable storage medium of  claim 18 , wherein:
 the at least one portion of the streaming media content is capable of being uploaded to at least one social network server via the smartphone; and   the at least one audio/video media content rendering system and/or the smartphone are capable of being used, at least in part, in facial recognition-related image capture to be used in association, at least in part, with the user facial recognition-related information.   
     
     
         21 . The at least one computer-readable storage medium of  claim 18 , wherein:
 the at least one audio/video media content rendering system and/or the smartphone are capable of gesture recognition for use in association with control of the operation of the at least one audio/video media content rendering system.   
     
     
         22 . The at least one computer-readable storage medium of  claim 18 , wherein:
 the at least one audio/video media content rendering system is capable of displaying via the television at least one picture-in-picture; and   the at least one user input is to change size of the at least one picture-in-picture.

A method implemented, at least in part, using an apparatus, the apparatus being capable of being used in association with a smartphone and at least one remote server, the apparatus being capable, when the apparatus is in operation, of communicating via an Internet network with the at least one remote server, the apparatus comprising at least one audio/video media content rendering system, the at least one audio/video media content rendering system comprising a television and box device, the at least one audio/video media content rendering system being for use in rendering, at least in part, streaming media content to be received and rendered by the at least one audio/video media content rendering system, the method comprising:
 transmitting from the at least one audio/video media content rendering system information for use in identifying the at least one audio/video media content rendering system to the smartphone;   receiving other information for use in identifying the smartphone to the at least one audio/video media content rendering system;   after the transmitting of the information and receiving of the other information, receiving by the at least one audio/video media content rendering system control information from the smartphone for use in controlling, at least in part, the operation of the at least one audio/video media content rendering system, the control information being based, at least in part, upon at least one user input to be received, at least in part, via the smartphone;   based, at least in part, upon at least one user request received, at least in part, via the smartphone, transmitting from the at least one audio/video media content rendering system to the smartphone for rendering by the smartphone at least one portion of the streaming media content;   wherein:
 the at least one remote server is capable of associating user facial recognition-related information with (1) a user of the at least one audio/video media content rendering system and of the smartphone and (2) the at least one audio/video media content rendering system and the smartphone; and 
 in the operation of the at least one audio/video media content rendering system, instructions are capable of being provided to storage of the at least one audio/video media content rendering system, at least in part, via a wireless communication interface of the at least one audio/video media content rendering system, the instructions being capable of being executed, at least in part, by at least one multi-core processor of the at least one audio/video media content rendering system. 
   
     
     
         24 . The method of  claim 23 , wherein:
 the at least one remote server comprises a cloud computing server and/or e-commerce server; and   the at least one user input is to select, at least in part, manner of rendering of the streaming media content by the at least one audio/video media content rendering system.   
     
     
         25 . The method of  claim 23 , wherein:
 the at least one portion of the streaming media content is capable of being uploaded to at least one social network server via the smartphone; and   the at least one audio/video media content rendering system and/or the smartphone are capable of being used, at least in part, in facial recognition-related image capture to be used in association, at least in part, with the user facial recognition-related information.   
     
     
         26 . The method of  claim 23 , wherein:
 the at least one audio/video media content rendering system and/or the smartphone are capable of gesture recognition for use in association with control of the operation of the at least one audio/video media content rendering system.   
     
     
         27 . The method of  claim 23 , wherein:
 the at least one audio/video media content rendering system is capable of displaying via the television at least one picture-in-picture; and   the at least one user input is to change size of the at least one picture-in-picture.   
     
     
         28 . An apparatus capable of being used in association with a smartphone and one or more remote servers, the apparatus being capable, when the apparatus is in operation, of communicating via an Internet network with the one or more remote servers, the apparatus comprising:
 one or more audio/video media content rendering systems, the one or more audio/video media content rendering systems comprising:
 a television and box device, the one or more audio/video media content rendering systems being for use in rendering streaming media content to be received and rendered by the one or more audio/video media content rendering systems; 
 one or more multi-core processors; 
 storage to store instructions that are capable of being executed, at least in part, by the one or more multi-core processors, the instructions when executed, at least in part, by the one or more multi-core processors resulting in the one or more audio/video media content rendering systems being capable of performing operations comprising:
 transmitting information for use in identifying the one or more audio/video media content rendering systems to the smartphone; 
 receiving other information for use in identifying the smartphone to the one or more audio/video media content rendering systems; 
 after the transmitting of the information and receiving of the other information, receiving control information from the smartphone for use in controlling the operation of the one or more audio/video media content rendering systems, the control information being based upon one or more user inputs to be received via the smartphone; 
 based upon one or more user requests received via the smartphone, transmitting from the one or more audio/video media content rendering systems to the smartphone for rendering by the smartphone one or more portions of the streaming media content; 
 
   wherein:
 the one or more remote servers are capable of associating user facial recognition-related information with (1) a user of the one or more audio/video media content rendering systems and of the smartphone and (2) the one or more audio/video media content rendering systems and the smartphone; and 
 in the operation of the one or more audio/video media content rendering systems, the instructions are capable of being provided to the storage, at least in part, via a wireless communication interface of the one or more audio/video media content rendering systems. 
   
     
     
         29 . The apparatus of  claim 28 , wherein:
 the one or more remote servers comprise a cloud computing server and/or e-commerce server; and   the one or more user inputs are to select manner of rendering of the streaming media content by the one or more audio/video media content rendering systems.   
     
     
         30 . The apparatus of  claim 28 , wherein:
 the one or more portions of the streaming media content are capable of being uploaded to one or more social network servers via the smartphone; and   the one or more audio/video media content rendering systems and/or the smartphone are capable of being used in facial recognition-related image capture to be used in association with the user facial recognition-related information.   
     
     
         31 . The apparatus of  claim 28 , wherein:
 the one or more audio/video media content rendering systems and/or the smartphone are capable of gesture recognition for use in association with control of the operation of the one or more audio/video media content rendering systems.   
     
     
         32 . The apparatus of  claim 28 , wherein:
 the one or more audio/video media content rendering systems are capable of displaying via the television one or more picture-in-pictures; and   the one or more user inputs are to change size of the at least one picture-in-picture.
