Personalized item trading card generation and management

Abstract

Methods and systems to generate and manage an item trading card are provided. A method may include providing an interface to access an item trading card associated with an item, and generating the item trading card including an item identifier associated with the item, a trading card identifier associated with the trading card, item data about the item, and market data about the item. The method further includes sharing the item trading card.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A method comprising:
 generating an electronic card for an item including an item identifier associated with the item and a card identifier associated with the electronic card;   storing the electronic card in an electronic inventory;   collecting, automatically, additional data about the item, including one or more parts or services related to the item and a map of geographic locations for the one or more parts or services related to the item;   in response to receiving a location of a user device that is requesting the electronic card for the item, updating the electronic card with at least a portion of the additional data based on the location; and   communicating the electronic card to a network to be transmitted to the user device at the location.   
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 , further comprising:
 listing the electronic card for sale or purchase in an online marketplace; and   updating the electronic card to include a purchase interface.   
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 1 , further comprising receiving a request to purchase the item via the purchase interface of the user device. 
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 1 , further comprising:
 storing a catalog, the catalog including information about items included in the electronic inventory,   wherein collecting additional data about the item includes obtaining information about the item from the catalog.   
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein generating the electronic card is based on a purchase of the item by a consumer, based on a barcode received from a consumer, or based on a picture received from a consumer. 
     
     
         6 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein collecting additional data about the item comprises collecting market data including sale prices for other instances of the item or market data about similar items. 
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 6 , further comprising updating the electronic card based on the collected market data. 
     
     
         8 . The method of  claim 1 , further comprising receiving a request for the electronic card based on a barcode received from the user device, based on a quick response (QR) code received from the user device, or based on a vehicle identification number (VIN) received from the user device. 
     
     
         9 . A system comprising:
 a non-transitory memory to store an application configured to generate and manage electronic cards;   a camera configured to capture images;   a touchscreen display configured to:
 present electronic cards to a user of the system, and 
 receive input; and 
   one or more hardware processors coupled to the non-transitory memory, the camera, and the touchscreen display, the one or more hardware processors configured to execute the application to cause the system to perform operations, the operations comprising:
 capturing an image of an item using the camera, the image including an item identifier of the item; 
 transmitting a request to an application server to generate an initial electronic card for the item including the item identifier associated with the item; 
 displaying, in a user interface on the display, the initial electronic card for the item; 
 receiving, from the application server, additional data about the item, the application server being configured to collect the additional data about the item; and 
 displaying to the user in the user interface an updated electronic card that includes information from the initial electronic card and at least some of the received additional data presented in a chart. 
   
     
     
         10 . The system of  claim 9 , wherein additional data about the item comprises a best price in a local area and a price trend in a field on the updated electronic card. 
     
     
         11 . The system of  claim 10 , wherein the operations further comprise detecting, by the touchscreen display, a request to list the updated electronic card for sale in an online marketplace. 
     
     
         12 . The system of  claim 11 , further comprising a location determining device configured to determine a position of the system, wherein the additional data comprises a map, and wherein displaying the updated electronic card comprises displaying a map identifying sources for parts for the item or sources for service for the item based on the position of the system. 
     
     
         13 . A non-transitory computer readable medium including instructions that, when executed by one or more processors, cause a machine to perform operations, the operations comprising:
 generating an electronic card for an item including an item identifier associated with the item and a card identifier associated with the electronic card;   storing the electronic card in an electronic inventory;   collecting, automatically, additional data about the item, including one or more parts or services related to the item and a map of geographic locations for the one or more parts or services related to the item;   in response to receiving a location of a user device that is requesting the electronic card for the item, updating the electronic card with at least a portion of the additional data based on the location; and   communicating the electronic card to a network to be transmitted to the user device at the location.   
     
     
         14 . The computer readable medium of  claim 13 , the operations further comprising:
 listing the electronic card for sale or purchase in an online marketplace; and   updating the electronic card to include a purchase interface.   
     
     
         15 . The computer readable medium of  claim 14 , the operations further comprising receiving a request to purchase the item via the purchase interface of the user device. 
     
     
         16 . The computer readable medium of  claim 13 , the operations further comprising:
 storing a catalog, the catalog including information about items included in the electronic inventory,   wherein collecting additional data about the item includes obtaining information about the item from the catalog.   
     
     
         17 . The computer readable medium of  claim 13 , wherein generating the electronic card is based on a purchase of the item by a consumer, based on a barcode received from a consumer, or based on a picture received from a consumer. 
     
     
         18 . The computer readable medium of  claim 13 , wherein collecting additional data about the item comprises collecting market data including sale prices for other instances of the item or market data about similar items. 
     
     
         19 . The computer readable medium of  claim 18 , the operations further comprising updating the electronic card based on the automatically collected market data. 
     
     
         20 . The computer readable medium of  claim 13 , the operations further comprising receiving a request for the electronic card based on a barcode received from the user device, based on a quick response (QR) code received from the user device, or based on a vehicle identification number (VIN) received from the user device.
