Abstract
Described herein are methods and compositions for the treatment of colon cancers.

1 . A pharmaceutical composition for treating a colon cancer-related disease, comprising:
at least one miR gene product selected from the group consisting of anti-sense miR-20a, anti-sense miR-21, anti-sense miR-106a, anti-sense miR-181b, anti-sense miR-203 and combinations thereof; wherein at least one of the anti-sense miR-20a, anti-sense miR-21, anti-sense miR-106a, anti-sense miR-181b and anti-sense miR-203 are present in a sufficient amount to bind to a corresponding miRNA in colon cancer cells, and to inhibit the expression of the corresponding miRNA in the colon cancer cells; and, a pharmaceutically-acceptable carrier.
2 . The pharmaceutical composition of claim 1 , wherein the miR gene product is anti-sense miR-21.
3 . The pharmaceutical composition of claim 1 , wherein the colon cancer-related disease is adenocarcinoma.
4 . An agent that interferes with at least one colon cancer-related disease response signaling pathway, for the manufacture of a medicament for treating, preventing, reversing or limiting the severity of a colon cancer-related disease complication in an individual,
wherein the agent comprises at least one miR gene product selected from the group consisting of anti-sense miR-20a, anti-sense miR-21, anti-sense miR-106a, anti-sense miR-181b, anti-sense miR-203 and combinations thereof.
5 . The agent of claim 4 , wherein the at least one miR gene product is anti-sense miR-21.
6 . A method of treating or limiting the severity of a colon cancer-related disease complication in an individual in need thereof, comprising:
administering to the individual at least on miRNA gene product that interferes with at least one colon cancer-related disease response cascade, wherein the at least one miR gene product is anti-sense miR-21.
7 . An agent that interferes with at least one colon cancer-related disease response cascade, for the manufacture of a medicament for treating, reversing or limiting the severity of a colon cancer-related disease complication in an individual,
wherein the agent comprises at least one miR gene product selected from the group consisting of anti-sense miR-20a, anti-sense miR-21, anti-sense miR-106a, anti-sense miR-181b, anti-sense miR-203 and combinations thereof.
