Claims

Abstract

A bag for containing a bale of compressed material is a sleeve formed from woven tapes of polymeric material having a sealed end and an open end. The sleeve has a first region where the tapes are woven at a first density and one or more second regions where the tapes are woven at a second density less than the first density. The first region is configured to, when the bale is introduced into the bag, be positioned on at least a portion of a length of the bale.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A bag for containing a bale of compressed material, comprising:
 a sleeve formed from woven tapes of polymeric material, the sleeve having a sealed end and an open end, the sleeve having a first region where the tapes are woven at a first density and one or more second regions where the tapes are woven at a second density less than the first density, wherein the first region is configured to, when the bale is introduced into the bag, be positioned on at least a portion of a length of the bale.   
     
     
         2 . The bag of  claim 1  including one first region and one second region, the second region being at the open end of the bag. 
     
     
         3 . The bag of  claim 1  including one first region and two second regions, a first second region being at the open end of the bag and a second region being at the sealed end of the bag. 
     
     
         4 . The bag of  claim 1  wherein the first region has a tape density of about 10 to about 12 tapes per inch. 
     
     
         5 . The bag of  claim 4  wherein the first region has a tape density of about 10 tapes per inch. 
     
     
         6 . The bag of  claim 4  wherein the second region has a tape density of about 5 to about 8 tapes per inch. 
     
     
         7 . The bag of  claim 6  wherein the second region has a tape density of about 7 tapes per inch. 
     
     
         8 . The bag of  claim 1  wherein the tapes are formed from polyethylene terephthalate. 
     
     
         9 . The bag of  claim 1  wherein the bag has a polymeric coating on a surface of the bag. 
     
     
         10 . The bag of  claim 9  wherein the polymeric coating is polyethylene or a polyethylene-based material. 
     
     
         11 . The bag of  claim 10  wherein the coating is on an outside surface of the bag. 
     
     
         12 . A bag for containing a bale of compressed material, comprising:
 multiple tapes of a polymeric material woven so as to have at least one reinforced region and at least one non-reinforced region, the at least one reinforced region having a higher density of tapes than the non-reinforced region, the bag having a length about equal to a length or greater than a length of the bale, wherein the bale is positioned in the bag with the at least one reinforced region positioned in the bale and wherein the at least one non-reinforced region is positioned beyond an end of the bale.   
     
     
         13 . The bag of  claim 12  including one reinforced region. 
     
     
         14 . The bag of  claim 13  including two non-reinforced regions, a first non-reinforced region being at an open end of the bag and a second non-reinforced region being at a sealed end of the bag. 
     
     
         15 . The bag of  claim 12  wherein the reinforced region has a tape density of about 10 to about 12 tapes per inch. 
     
     
         16 . The bag of  claim 15  wherein the reinforced region has a tape density of about 10 tapes per inch. 
     
     
         17 . The bag of  claim 14  wherein the non-reinforced region has a tape density of about 5 to about 8 tapes per inch. 
     
     
         18 . The bag of  claim 17  wherein the non-reinforced region has a tape density of about 7 tapes per inch. 
     
     
         19 . The bag of  claim 12  wherein the tapes are formed from polyethylene terephthalate. 
     
     
         20 . The bag of  claim 12  wherein the bag has a polymeric coating on a surface of the bag. 
     
     
         21 . The bag of  claim 20  wherein the polymeric coating is polyethylene or a polyethylene-based material. 
     
     
         22 . The bag of  claim 21  wherein the coating is on an outside surface of the bag.
