Abstract

Systems and methods are provided for converting gestures undergone by a device into digital graffiti that is superimposed on a digital canvas.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

         1 . A portable device, comprising:
 a motion detector configured to output motion information as a function of at least one movement of the portable device; a position detector configured to output position information as a function of location of the portable electronic device; and at least one processor configured to:
 identify a point of interest, the point of interest being identified at least in part based on the position information of the portable device and a position of the point of interest;
 identify a digital canvas corresponding to the point of interest;
 select a digital graffiti tool for creating digital graffiti;
 detect movement of the portable device and output the motion information which is associated with a stored gesture definition;
 identify digital graffiti based on the motion information associated with the stored gesture definition;
 superimpose the digital graffiti onto the digital canvas; and
 save the digital canvas with the digital graffiti superimposed on the digital canvas.

         2 . The portable device of claim 1 , wherein the point of interest is further identified at least in part based on a signal emitted from the point of interest.

         3 . The portable device of claim 1 , wherein the digital graffiti is identified from a remote digital graffiti storage location and wherein the motion information is transmitted over a network to a remote gesture definition network provider to identify the digital graffiti.

         4 . The portable device of claim 1 , wherein the stored gesture definition is a locally stored gesture definition saved on the portable device.

         5 . The portable device of claim 1 , wherein the digital graffiti is identified by presenting the digital graffiti as 2D strokes and then converting 2D strokes into a saved image associated with the 2D strokes.

         6 . The portable device of claim 1 , wherein the motion information is used in combination with use of input from a continuity button on the device to detect termination of a first graffiti stroke and a beginning of a new graffiti stroke.

         7 . The portable device of claim 1 , wherein the digital graffiti is saved with the digital canvas for only a predetermined period of time.

         8 . The portable device of claim 1 , wherein the saved digital canvas having the superimposed digital graffiti is shared with at least one other device.

         9 . A portable device, comprising:
 a camera configured to obtain an image of an area proximate the portable device; a motion detector configured to output motion information as a function of at least one movement of the portable device; and at least one processor configured to:
 identify an image obtained by the camera;
 formulate a digital canvas that includes the image;
 select a digital graffiti tool for creating digital graffiti;
 detect movement of the portable device and output the motion information corresponding to a stored gesture definition;
 identify digital graffiti based on the motion information corresponding to the stored gesture definition;
 superimpose the digital graffiti onto the digital canvas; and
 save the digital canvas with the digital graffiti superimposed on the digital canvas.

         10 . The portable device of claim 9 , wherein the digital graffiti is identified from a remote digital graffiti storage location and wherein the motion information is transmitted over a network to a remote gesture definition network provider to identify the digital graffiti.

         11 . The portable device of claim 9 , wherein the stored gesture definition is a locally stored gesture definition saved on the portable device.

         12 . The portable device of claim 9 , wherein the digital graffiti is identified by presenting the digital graffiti as 2D strokes and then converting 2D strokes into a saved image associated with the 2D strokes.

         13 . The portable device of claim 9 , wherein the digital graffiti is saved with the digital canvas for only a predetermined period of time.

         14 . The portable device of claim 9 , wherein the saved digital canvas having the superimposed digital graffiti is transmitted over a network to at least one other device.

         15 . A portable device, comprising:
 a motion detector configured to output motion information as a function of at least one movement of the portable device; a network interface configured to receive signals emanating from points of interest; and at least one processor configured to:
 analyzing a signal received from a point of interest;
 identify a digital canvas corresponding to the point of interest;
 select a digital graffiti tool for creating digital graffiti;
 detect movement of the portable device and output the motion information which is associated with a stored gesture definition;
 identify digital graffiti based on the motion information associated with the stored gesture definition;
 superimpose the digital graffiti onto the digital canvas; and
 save the digital canvas with the digital graffiti superimposed on the digital canvas.

         16 . The portable device of claim 15 , wherein the digital canvas is received with the signal.

         17 . The portable device of claim 15 , wherein the digital graffiti is identified from a remote digital graffiti storage location and wherein the motion information is transmitted over a network to a remote gesture definition network provider to identify the digital graffiti.

         18 . The portable device of claim 15 , wherein the stored gesture definition is a locally stored gesture definition saved on the portable device.

         19 . The portable device of claim 15 , wherein the digital graffiti is identified by presenting the digital graffiti as 2D strokes and then converting 2D strokes into a saved image associated with the 2D strokes.

         20 . The portable device of claim 15 , wherein the motion information is used in combination with use of input from a continuity button on the device to detect termination of a first graffiti stroke and a beginning of a new graffiti stroke.

         21 . The portable device of claim 15 , wherein the digital graffiti is saved with the digital canvas for only a predetermined period of time.

         22 . The portable device of claim 15 , wherein the saved digital canvas having the superimposed digital graffiti is shared with at least one other device.
