Abstract

A firearm disabling system is disclosed. The firearm disabling system includes a control circuit configured to detect one or more operational parameters of a firearm associated with an unauthorized use scenario. A foam deployment system is in signal communication with the control circuit. The foam deployment system is configured to disable one or more mechanical functions of the firearm.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

         1 . A firearm disabling system, comprising
a control circuit configured to detect one or more operational parameters of a firearm associated with an unauthorized use scenario; and a disabling system in signal communication with the control circuit, wherein the disabling system is configured to disable one or more mechanical functions of the firearm, wherein the disabling system comprises at least one deployment mechanism configured to deploy one or more components of the disabling foam to disable the one or more mechanical functions of the firearm.

2 . The firearm disabling system of claim 1 , wherein the disabling foam comprises a hardening foam.

3 . The firearm disabling system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more mechanical functions of the firearm include at least one of a loading mechanism, a firing mechanism, or an ejection mechanism.

4 . The firearm disabling system of claim 1 , wherein the control circuit comprises a communication circuit configured to receive a signal from a transmitter, and wherein the signal is indicative of one or more operational parameters.

5 . The firearm disabling system of claim 4 , wherein the control circuit is configured to activate the foam deployment system when a predetermined signal is received at the communication circuit.

6 . The firearm disabling system of claim 5 , wherein the predetermined signal is indicative of an unauthorized use scenario.

7 . The firearm disabling system of claim 4 , wherein the control circuit is configured to activate the foam deployment system if a predetermined signal is not received within a predetermined time period.

8 . The firearm disabling system of claim 1 , wherein the control circuit comprises at least one sensor configured to detect one or more operational parameters.

9 . The firearm disabling system of claim 1 , further comprising a magazine housing, wherein the foam deployment system is located within the magazine housing, and wherein the magazine housing is sized and configured for insertion into a magazine well of the firearm.

10 . The firearm disabling system of claim 1 , further comprising a cartridge housing sized and configured to be inserted into an action of the firearm, wherein the foam deployment system is located within the cartridge housing.

10 . The firearm disabling system of claim 1 , wherein at least one deployment mechanism is configured to deploy the disabling foam into at least one cavity defined by the firearm.

         11 . A firearm disabling system, comprising:
a control circuit configured to detect one or more operational parameters of a firearm associated with an unauthorized use scenario; and a disabling system in signal communication with the control circuit, wherein the disabling system is configured to disable one or more mechanical functions of the firearm; and a housing configured to be inserted into an accessory opening defined by the firearm.

12 . The firearm disabling system of claim 11 , wherein the accessory opening comprises one of a magazine well, an action, or a barrel.

13 . The firearm disabling system of claim 11 , wherein the disabling foam comprises a hardening foam.

14 . The firearm disabling system of claim 11 , wherein the one or more mechanical functions of the firearm include at least one of a loading mechanism, a firing mechanism, or an ejection mechanism.

15 . The firearm disabling system of claim 11 , wherein the control circuit comprises a communication circuit configured to receive a signal from a transmitter, and wherein the signal is indicative of one or more operational parameters.

         16 . A firearm, comprising:
a frame assembly; a firing assembly operably coupled to the frame assembly; a trigger assembly operably coupled to the firing assembly; and a firearm disabling system comprising:
a control circuit configured to detect one or more operational parameters of the firearm; and
a disabling system in signal communication with the control circuit, wherein the disabling system is configured to disable one or more mechanical functions of the firearm, wherein the disabling system comprises at least one deployment mechanism configured to deploy one or more components of a disabling foam to disable the one or more mechanical functions of the firearm.

17 . The firearm of claim 16 , wherein the one or more mechanical functions of the firearm comprises a mechanical function of one of the firing assembly or the trigger assembly.

18 . The firearm of claim 16 , wherein the firearm disabling system is positioned within an accessory coupled to the frame.

19 . The firearm of claim 18 , wherein the accessory comprises one of a handle, a stock, a magazine well, a buffer tube, or a slide.

20 . The firearm of claim 16 , wherein the disabling foam comprises a hardening foam.
