Abstract

Setting up a multiplayer gaming session, including: initiating a multiplayer gaming session; selecting at least one invitee; retrieving a list of games for each invitee of the selected at least one invitee; combining the list of games for each invitee into a merged list of games; sorting the merged list of games by most commonly owned; selecting a game from the merged list of games for the multiplayer gaming session; and sending an invitation to the multiplayer gaming session to each invitee of the selected at least one invitee.

1 . A method for setting up a multiplayer gaming session comprising:
 initiating a multiplayer gaming session;   selecting at least one invitee;   retrieving a list of games for each invitee of the selected at least one invitee;   combining the list of games for each invitee into a merged list of games;   sorting the merged list of games by most commonly owned;   selecting a game from the merged list of games for the multiplayer gaming session; and   sending an invitation to the multiplayer gaming session to each invitee of the selected at least one invitee.   
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 , further comprising voting on a game from the merged list of games for the multiplayer gaming session by each invitee. 
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 2 , wherein the merged list of games are sorted by most votes. 
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 1 , further comprising displaying a list of invitees that own each game of the merged list of games. 
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein sorting the merged list of games by most commonly owned includes tallying the invitees that own each game of the merged list of games. 
     
     
         6 . The method of  claim 5 , wherein the merged list of games is displayed in descending order of the tally of invitees that own each game. 
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 6 , wherein the greater the tally of invitees that own a particular game, the more the particular game is conspicuously displayed in the merged list of games. 
     
     
         8 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the list of games for each invitee is retrieved from a database in communication with a server. 
     
     
         9 . The method of  claim 8 , wherein the list of games for each invitee is linked to an individual user account belonging to a gaming network. 
     
     
         10 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the merged list of games is displayed as a collated list of games. 
     
     
         11 . The method of  claim 1 , further comprising providing a shortcut link to purchase a game that one of the invitees does not own. 
     
     
         12 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing a computer program to set up a multiplayer gaming session, the computer program comprising executable instructions that cause a computer to:
 initiate a multiplayer gaming session;   select at least one invitee;   retrieve a list of games for each invitee of the selected at least one invitee;   combine the list of games for each invitee into a merged list of games;   sort the merged list of games by most commonly owned;   select a game from the merged list of games for the multiplayer gaming session; and   send an invitation to the multiplayer gaming session to each invitee of the selected at least one invitee.   
     
     
         13 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of  claim 12 , wherein the computer program further comprises executable instructions that cause a computer to vote on a game from the merged list of games for the multiplayer gaming session by each invitee. 
     
     
         14 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of  claim 13 , wherein the merged list of games are sorted by most votes. 
     
     
         15 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of  claim 12 , wherein the computer program further comprises executable instructions that cause a computer to display a list of invitees that own each game of the merged list of games. 
     
     
         16 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of  claim 12 , wherein sorting the merged list of games by most commonly owned includes tallying the invitees that own each game of the merged list of games. 
     
     
         17 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of  claim 12 , wherein the list of games for each invitee is retrieved from a database in communication with a server. 
     
     
         18 . The method of  claim 8 , wherein the list of games for each invitee is linked to an individual user account belonging to a gaming network. 
     
     
         19 . A host computing device for setting up a multiplayer gaming session, the host computing device comprising:
 a game session generator configured to initiate a multiplayer gaming session,   an invitee generator configured to select at least one invitee;   a game list generator configured to
 retrieve a list of games for each invitee of the at least one invitees, 
 combine the list of games for each invitee into a merged list of games, 
 sort the merged list of games by most commonly owned, 
 select a game from the merged list of games for the multiplayer gaming session; and 
   an invitation transmitter configured to send an invitation to the multiplayer gaming session to the at least one selected invitee.   
     
     
         20 . The host computing device of  claim 19 , further comprising a voting generator configured to generate a voting process to determine the most desired game of the merged list of games.
