Anti-blepharitis compositions and their use

Abstract

Compositions and methods for the prevention and treatment of blepharitis, where the compositions include verbascoside, oligopeptide-10, and sulfonated shale oil, and the preparation of such compositions.

         21 . A composition comprising oligopeptide-10 and sulfonated shale oil, wherein the oligopeptide-10 is present in the composition in a concentration of 5.0×10 −6  to 0.50 percent by weight, and the sulfonated shale oil is present in the composition in a concentration of 1.0×10 −4  to 2.0 percent by weight. 
     
     
         22 . The composition of  claim 21 , further comprising verbascoside. 
     
     
         23 . The composition of  claim 22 , wherein verbascoside and shale oil are present in the composition in a ratio of one part verbascoside to two parts shale oil by weight. 
     
     
         24 . The composition of  claim 22 , wherein verbascoside and oligopeptide-10 are present in the composition in a ratio of 20 parts verbascoside to one part oligopeptide-10 by weight. 
     
     
         25 . The composition of  claim 21 , further comprising one or more additional active ingredients selected from neem oil, turmeric extract, willowbark extract,  Euphrasia officinalis  extract, black seed oil, and anise extract. 
     
     
         26 . The composition of  claim 21 , wherein oligopeptide-10 is present in the composition in a concentration of about 0.025 percent by weight and sulfonated shale oil is present in a concentration of about 1.0 percent by weight. 
     
     
         27 . The composition of  claim 21 , wherein the composition is a cosmetic composition, further comprising one or more cosmetically acceptable excipients. 
     
     
         28 . The composition of  claim 27 , wherein the one or more excipients are selected from the group consisting of: solvents, sequestrants, humectants, thickening agents, emulsifiers, emollients, adsorbing agents, preservatives, fragrances, antioxidants, pH modifiers, texturizing agents, and combinations thereof. 
     
     
         29 . The composition of  claim 27 , wherein the composition is an eye pencil, an eye shadow, an eye liner, a mascara, a cosmetic primer, or a cosmetic serum. 
     
     
         30 . The composition of  claim 21 , wherein the composition is a lotion, a cream, or a liquid. 
     
     
         31 . The composition of  claim 21 , wherein the composition is dispersed on or in an absorbant substrate. 
     
     
         32 . A composition for treating or preventing blepharitis, comprising:
 a precombined concentrated mixture of active ingredients including oligopeptide-10 and sulfonated shale oil; and   at least one cosmetic excipient;   wherein the precombined concentrated mixture is present in the composition in a concentration of 0.0001% to 5% by weight; and   wherein the oligopeptide-10 is present in the composition in a concentration of 5.0×10 −6  to 0.50 percent by weight, and the sulfonated shale oil is present in the composition in a concentration of 1.0×10 −4  to 2.0 percent by weight.   
     
     
         33 . The composition of  claim 32 , further comprising verbascoside. 
     
     
         34 . The composition of  claim 32 , further comprising one or more additional active ingredients selected from neem oil, turmeric extract, willowbark extract,  Euphrasia officinalis  extract, black seed oil, and anise extract. 
     
     
         35 . The composition of  claim 32 , wherein oligopeptide-10 is present in the composition in a concentration of about 0.025 percent by weight and sulfonated shale oil is present in a concentration of about 1.0 percent by weight. 
     
     
         36 . The composition of  claim 32 , wherein the composition is an eye pencil, an eye shadow, an eye liner, a mascara, a cosmetic primer, or a cosmetic serum. 
     
     
         37 . The composition of  claim 32 , wherein the composition is a lotion, a cream, or a liquid. 
     
     
         38 . An eye makeup formulation, comprising:
 a precombined concentrated mixture of active ingredients for treating or preventing blepharitis, including oligopeptide-10 and sulfonated shale oil collectively present in the formulation in a concentration of 0.0001% to 5% by weight;   a wax; and   a colorant;   wherein the oligopeptide-10 is present in the composition in a concentration of 5.0×10 −6  to 0.50 percent by weight, and the sulfonated shale oil is present in the composition in a concentration of 1.0×10 −4  to 2.0 percent by weight.   
     
     
         39 . The formulation of  claim 38 , further comprising one or more additional active ingredients selected from neem oil, turmeric extract, willowbark extract,  Euphrasia officinalis  extract, black seed oil, and anise extract. 
     
     
         40 . The formulation of  claim 38 , wherein the colorant is an iron oxide.
