Abstract
Described herein are methods and compositions for enhancing pathogen immunity in plants and improving plant growth.

24 . An agricultural composition comprising the compound of Formula I
or a salt thereof, wherein:
R 2 , R 3 , R 4 , R 6 , R 8 , and R 10 are each independently selected from hydrogen, halogen, hydroxyl, alkoxyl, nitro, substituted or unsubstituted amino, unsubstituted alkyl, substituted or unsubstituted alkenyl, and substituted or unsubstituted carbonyl;
R 1 and R 5 are each independently selected from hydrogen, hydroxyl, alkoxyl, nitro, substituted or unsubstituted amino, substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, substituted or unsubstituted alkenyl, and substituted or unsubstituted carbonyl; and
R 7 and R 9 are each independently selected from hydrogen, hydroxyl, alkoxyl, nitro, substituted or unsubstituted amino, unsubstituted alkyl, substituted or unsubstituted alkenyl, and substituted or unsubstituted carbonyl,
wherein, when contacted with a plant, the compound increases pathogen resistance or growth of the plant compared to pathogen resistance or growth of a control plant not contacted with the compound.
25 . The agricultural composition of claim 24 , wherein:
R 2 , R 3 , R 4 , R 6 , R 8 , and R 10 are each independently selected from hydrogen, halogen, hydroxyl, alkoxyl, nitro, substituted or unsubstituted amino, and unsubstituted alkyl, substituted or unsubstituted alkenyl; R 1 and R 5 are each independently selected from hydrogen, hydroxyl, alkoxyl, nitro, substituted or unsubstituted amino, substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, and substituted or unsubstituted alkenyl; and R 7 and R 9 are each independently selected from hydrogen, hydroxyl, alkoxyl, nitro, substituted or unsubstituted amino, unsubstituted alkyl, and substituted or unsubstituted alkenyl.
26 . The agricultural composition of claim 25 , wherein R 1 and R 5 are each independently selected from hydrogen and hydroxyl.
27 . The agricultural composition of claim 25 , wherein R 2 and R 4 are each independently selected from hydrogen and halogen.
28 . The agricultural composition of claim 25 , wherein R 1 is hydroxyl.
29 . The agricultural composition of claim 25 , wherein R 5 is hydrogen.
30 . The agricultural composition of claim 25 , wherein R 2 and R 4 are both halogen.
31 . The agricultural composition of claim 26 , wherein R 2 and R 4 are each independently selected from hydrogen and halogen.
32 . The agricultural composition of claim 31 , wherein R 1 is hydroxyl.
33 . The agricultural composition of claim 32 , wherein R 5 is hydrogen.
34 . The agricultural composition of claim 33 , wherein R 2 and R 4 are both chlorine.
35 . An agricultural composition comprising the compound of Formula I
or a salt thereof, wherein:
R 1 and R 5 are each independently selected from hydrogen, hydroxyl, alkoxyl, nitro, substituted or unsubstituted amino, substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, substituted or unsubstituted alkenyl, and substituted or unsubstituted carbonyl;
R 2 and R 4 are each independently selected from halogen, hydroxyl, alkoxyl, nitro, substituted or unsubstituted amino, substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, substituted or unsubstituted alkenyl, and substituted or unsubstituted carbonyl;
R 3 is selected from hydrogen, halogen, hydroxyl, alkoxyl, nitro, substituted or unsubstituted amino, substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, substituted or unsubstituted alkenyl, and substituted or unsubstituted carbonyl; and
R 6 , R 7 , R 8 , R 9 and R 10 are each independently selected from hydrogen, halogen, hydroxyl, alkoxyl, nitro, substituted or unsubstituted amino, unsubstituted alkyl, substituted or unsubstituted alkenyl, and substituted or unsubstituted carbonyl,
wherein, when contacted with a plant, the compound increases pathogen resistance or growth of the plant compared to pathogen resistance or growth of a control plant not contacted with the compound.
36 . The agricultural composition of claim 35 , wherein:
R 1 and R 5 are each independently selected from hydrogen, hydroxyl, alkoxyl, nitro, substituted or unsubstituted amino, substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, and substituted or unsubstituted alkenyl; R 2 and R 4 are each independently selected from halogen, hydroxyl, alkoxyl, nitro, substituted or unsubstituted amino, substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, and substituted or unsubstituted alkenyl; R 3 is selected from hydrogen, halogen, hydroxyl, alkoxyl, nitro, substituted or unsubstituted amino, substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, and substituted or unsubstituted alkenyl; and R 6 , R 7 , R 8 , R 9 and R 10 are each independently selected from hydrogen, halogen, hydroxyl, alkoxyl, nitro, substituted or unsubstituted amino, unsubstituted alkyl, and substituted or unsubstituted alkenyl.
37 . The agricultural composition of claim 36 , wherein R 1 is hydroxyl.
38 . The agricultural composition of claim 37 , wherein R 5 is hydrogen, hydroxyl, or part of a phenyl group with R 4 .
39 . The agricultural composition of claim 37 , wherein R 4 is halogen, hydroxyl, or part of a phenyl group with R 5 .
40 . The agricultural composition of claim 37 , wherein R 2 and R 4 are both halogen.
41 . The agricultural composition of claim 40 , wherein R 7 and R 9 are both halogen.
42 . An agricultural composition comprising the compound of Formula I
or a salt thereof, wherein:
R 1 , R 3 , R 5 , R 6 , R 7 , R 8 , R 9 , and R 10 are each independently selected from hydrogen, halogen, hydroxyl, alkoxyl, nitro, substituted or unsubstituted amino, unsubstituted alkyl, substituted or unsubstituted alkenyl; and
