Creative work registry independent server

Abstract

An independent server (creative work protection server) that provides protection to the creative works of authors/artists by identifying web content in major third party host servers and other creative work content in database of the creative work protection server that contain similarities and reporting back to the authors/artists and major third party host servers. The creative works of the authors/artists may contain one or more of textual content, images, audio and video content. The creative work protection server has components that identify similarities to the works of the authors/artists (the creative works) and provide protection by assisting major third party host servers to delete the content, upon detection of similarities. The service to the authors/artists of the creative works is provided upon service charge basis. The creative work protection server provides provisions for registration, logging in, billing and to receive periodic results via email or webpage interface.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A creative work protection server supporting a plurality of creative works owners of a plurality of creative works, the creative work protection server comprising:
 a communication interface that supports registration of the plurality of creative works;   data storage that stores a first group of creative works of the plurality of creative works and a second group of creative works, the second group of creative works obtained during a search engine crawling process that identified the second group of creative works from at least one of a plurality of web hosting servers hosting the second group of creative works;   a processor that:   converts at least some of the first group of creative works to a predetermined format to generate converted instances of the first group of creative works;   converts at least some of the second group of creative works to the predetermined format to generate converted instances of the second group of creative works; and   identifies matches between the converted instances of the first group of creative works and the converted instances of the second group of creative works.   
     
     
         2 . The creative work protection server of  claim 1 , further comprising a billing service that charges a first fee to each of the plurality of creative works owners for services rendered. 
     
     
         3 . The creative work protection server of  claim 2 , wherein the billing service further charges an additional fee to each of the plurality of creative works owners for supporting communications with at least one of the plurality of web hosting servers, the communications regarding match-related information; and
 a first hypertext markup language interface that supports a display of match-related information for the plurality of creative works owners, wherein the display includes an area of work identifier.   
     
     
         4 . The creative work protection server of  claim 3 , wherein:
 the match-related information identifies the second group of creative works and the first group of creative works associated with the matches;   the first group of creative works comprises a first portion of the creative works registered by one of the plurality of creative works owners; and   a markup language interface supports display of match-related information associated with the first group of the creative works.   
     
     
         5 . The creative work protection server of  claim 4 , the first hypertext markup language interface supports communication regarding at least a portion of the match-related information with the at least one of the plurality of web hosting servers. 
     
     
         6 . The creative work protection server of  claim 3 , wherein the match-related information includes third-party hosting information associated with the matches. 
     
     
         7 . The creative work protection server of  claim 1 , wherein the search engine crawling process includes receiving vectors corresponding to the second group of creative works, the second group of creative works comprise web content. 
     
     
         8 . The creative work protection server of  claim 1 , wherein identifying matches includes determining a correlation between at least some of the converted instances of the first group of creative works and at least some of the converted instances of the second group of creative works. 
     
     
         9 . The creative work protection server of  claim 1 , wherein the converted instances of the second group of creative works are generated in response to a determination that the second group of creative works belong to a common creative area as the first group of creative works. 
     
     
         10 . The creative work protection server of  claim 1 , wherein the first group of creative works and the second group of creative works include image data. 
     
     
         11 . The creative work protection server of  claim 1 , wherein the first group of creative works and the second group of creative works include video data. 
     
     
         12 . The creative work protection server of  claim 1 , wherein the first group of creative works and the second group of creative works include audio data. 
     
     
         13 . A creative work protection server supporting a plurality of creative works owners, the creative work protection server comprising:
 a first communication interface through which the plurality of creative works owners register a plurality of creative works;   a processing infrastructure that:
 obtains hosted content from at least one of a plurality of web hosting servers via a search engine crawling process, the search engine crawling process includes identifying the hosted content from at least one of a plurality of web hosting servers; 
 converts at least some of the plurality of creative works and at least some of the hosted content to a predetermined format to create converted creative works and converted hosted content; and 
 identifies matches between the converted creative works and the converted hosted content. 
   
     
     
         14 . The creative work protection server of  claim 13 , wherein the processing infrastructure further:
 supports visual presentations for each of the plurality of creative works owners regarding information associated with the matches;   enables the plurality of creative works owners to authorize communications regarding the matches to a selected portion of the web hosting servers, wherein the visual presentations include an area of work identifier; and   supports communication regarding at least a portion of the information associated with the matches only with a selected portion of web hosting servers.   
     
     
         15 . The creative work protection server of  claim 13 , wherein:
 the matches identify the hosted content and the plurality of creative works associated with the matches; and   creative works associated with the matches comprise a first portion of the plurality of creative works registered by one of the plurality of creative works owners.   
     
     
         16 . The creative work protection server of  claim 13 , wherein the matches identify associated third-party hosting information. 
     
     
         17 . The creative work protection server of  claim 13 , the creative work protection server further comprising a billing service that charges the plurality of creative works owners for services rendered. 
     
     
         18 . The creative work protection server of  claim 13 , wherein the creative works and the hosted content include image data. 
     
     
         19 . The creative work protection server of  claim 13 , wherein the creative works and the hosted content include video data. 
     
     
         20 . The creative work protection server of  claim 13 , wherein the creative works and the hosted content include audio data.
