Abstract

In accordance with one or more embodiments of the present disclosure, methods and apparatus are provided for flexible and user-friendly navigation of loaded media in a multi-media presentation, such that a user may be able to view and/or edit the presentation. In one embodiment, a method for navigating loaded media comprises loading a page of a collage document to a client device, the page having a plurality of layers with each layer being associated with a media object. The method further includes creating a list of layers of the loaded page, each layer indexed by at least a position in the collage document; navigating the collage document in at least one direction and at least one speed based on user input; and filtering the list of layers based on at least the position in the collage document and a visual window of a user interface to display visible layers of the page within the visual window. A client device for navigating loaded media is also disclosed.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 - 20 . (canceled)

         21 . A method, comprising:
 receiving, from a computing device, a request for a collage document that includes a plurality of layers, wherein at least one layer in the plurality of layers is associated with a media object; determining a number of layers of the plurality of layers to return to the computing device in response to the request, wherein the determining is based, at least in part, on one or more of:
 the request for the collage document;
 bandwidth requirements associated with the computing device; and
 processing power of the computing device; and
   providing the determined number of layers to the computing device for display in a visual window of the computing device, wherein the number of layers are provided in a list and indexed based, at least in part, on a position of the layer within the collage document.

         22 . The method of claim 21 , wherein the collage document includes a plurality of pages and wherein each page of the plurality of pages includes a plurality of layers.

         23 . The method of claim 21 , further comprising determining whether the collage document includes a plurality of pages, wherein each page of the plurality of pages includes a plurality of layers.

         24 . The method of claim 23 , wherein the determined number of layers that is provided to the computing device is associated with a first page of the plurality of pages.

         25 . The method of claim 24 , further comprising providing a second page of the plurality of pages to the computing device, wherein the second page includes the determined number of layers.

         26 . The method of claim 21 , wherein the collage document is navigable based on received input.

         27 . The method of claim 21 , wherein the collage document is navigable at a variable speed that is based, at least in part, on a speed of received input.

         28 . The method of claim 21 , wherein the collage document includes identity information that includes one or more of a title, a storage location, and a description.

         29 . The method of claim 21 , wherein each of the plurality of layers includes information for one or more of a position of a layer in the collage document, a scale of the layer, visual bounds associated with the layer, an annotation associated with the layer.

         30 . A system, comprising:
 at least one processing unit; and a memory coupled to the at least one processing unit and for storing instructions that, when executed by the at least one processing unit, perform a method, comprising:
 receiving a request for a collage document that includes a plurality of layers, wherein at least one layer in the plurality of layers is associated with a media object;
 determining a number of layers of the plurality of layers to return in response to the request, wherein the determining is based, at least in part, on:
 bandwidth requirements associated with the computing device; and
 processing power of the computing device; and
 providing the determined number of layers for display in a visual window, wherein the number of layers are indexed based, at least in part, on a position of the layer within the collage document.

         31 . The system of claim 30 , wherein the number of layers are provided in a list.

         32 . The system of claim 30 , wherein the determining is based, at least in part, on a request for the collage document.

         33 . The system of claim 30 , further comprising instructions for determining whether the collage document includes a plurality of pages and for determining whether each page of the plurality of pages includes a plurality of layers.

         34 . The system of 30 , further comprising instructions for receiving information regarding a maximum number of layers.

         35 . The system of claim 30 , wherein each of the plurality of layers includes information for one or more of a position of a layer in the collage document, a scale of the layer, visual bounds associated with the layer, an annotation associated with the layer.

         36 . The system of claim 30 , wherein the collage document is navigable.

         37 . A computer-readable storage medium encoding computer executable instructions that, when executed by a processing unit, perform a method, comprising:
 receiving. from a computing device, a request for a navigable collage document that includes a plurality of displayable layers, wherein at least one displayable layer in the plurality of displayable layers is associated with a media object; determining a number of displayable layers of the displayable plurality of layers to return in response to the request, wherein the determining is based, at least in part, on:
 bandwidth requirements associated with the computing device; and
 processing power of the computing device; and
   providing the determined number of layers to the computing device for display in a visual window of the computing device, wherein the number of layers are provided in a list and indexed based, at least in part, on a position of the layer within the collage document.

         38 . The computer-readable storage medium of claim 37 , wherein the collage document includes a plurality of pages and wherein each page of the plurality of pages includes a plurality of layers.

         39 . The computer-readable storage medium of claim 37 , further comprising determining whether the collage document includes a plurality of pages, wherein each page of the plurality of pages includes a plurality of layers.
