Pantleg holding mechanism for knee pads

Abstract

A knee pad holding mechanism for holding a knee pad over the knee region of a pantleg having a first length of fabric material and a second length of fabric material operatively secured together to form a pocket, the pocket being sized and shaped to receive a knee pad and having at least one opening located along each of the outside edges of the pocket for receiving a strap associated with the knee pad. In one embodiment, the first length of fabric material can be secured directly to the knee region of a pantleg wherein the pantleg forms the second length of fabric material. Other embodiments include using a loop, eyelet, slits or an additional section of fabric having a slit associated therewith for receiving a strap associated with the knee pad. The present mechanism is also adaptable for use to receive an elbow pad.

1 . A knee pad holding mechanism for holding a knee pad over a knee region of a pantleg comprising:
 a first length of fabric material and a second length of fabric material secured together to form an interior space therebetween, said first length of fabric material having a plurality of pairs of opposed elongated slits located along each of the two opposed outside side edges thereof, each of said pairs of elongated slits being sized and shaped to receive a strap associated with the knee pad, one end of the strap being threaded through one pair of opposed elongated slits located on one of said two opposed outside side edges of said first length of fabric material and the other end of the strap being threaded through one pair of opposed elongated slits located on the other of said two opposed outside side edges of said first length of fabric material;   said first and second lengths of fabric material being secured to the knee region of the pantleg.

The knee pad holding mechanism of  claim 1  wherein at least some of said plurality of pairs of elongated slits located on each of said two opposed outside side edges of said first length of fabric material are offset horizontally from the other plurality of pairs of elongated slits located on each of said two opposed outside side edges of said first length of fabric material. 
     
     
         3 . The knee pad holding mechanism of  claim 2  wherein at least some of said offset pairs of elongated slits located on each of said two opposed outside side edges of said first length of fabric material overlap vertically with at least some of the other plurality of pairs of elongated slits located on each of said two opposed outside side edges of said first length of fabric material. 
     
     
         4 . The knee pad holding mechanism of  claim 2  wherein said that and second lengths of fabric material are secured together to form a pocket, said pocket being sized and shaped to receive the knee pad. 
     
     
         5 . A knee pad holding mechanism for holding a knee pad over a knee region of a pantleg comprising:
 a first length of fabric material secured to the knee region of a pantleg in a manner which forms an interior space with the pantleg, said first length of fabric material having a plurality of pairs of opposed elongated slits located along each of the two opposed outside side edges thereof, each of said pairs of elongated slits being size and shaped to receive a strap associated with the knee pad;   said plurality of elongated slits on each of the two opposed outside side edges of said first length of fabric material allowing a user to position and secure the knee pad substantially over the knee region of the pantleg when a strap associated with the knee pad is positioned through a pair of opposed elongated slits located on each of the two opposed outside side edges of said first length of fabric material.   
     
     
         6 . The knee pad holding mechanism of  claim 5  wherein at least some of said plurality of pairs of elongated slits located on each of said two opposed outside side edges of said first length of fabric material are offset horizontally from the other plurality of pairs of elongated slits located on each of said two opposed outside side edges of said first length of fabric material. 
     
     
         7 . The knee pad holding mechanism of  claim 6  wherein at least some of said offset pairs of elongated slits located on each of said two opposed outside side edges of said first length of fabric material overlap vertically with at least some of the other plurality of pairs of elongated slits located on each of said two opposed outside side edges of said first length of fabric material. 
     
     
         8 . The knee pad holding mechanism of  claim 5  wherein said first length of fabric material is secured to the knee region of the pantleg in a manner which forms a pocket with the pantleg, said pocket being sized and shaped to receive the knee pad. 
     
     
         9 . A pad holding mechanism for holding a pad over a particular region of a garment comprising:
 a first length of fabric material and a second length of fabric material secured together to form an interior space therebetween, said first length of fabric material having a plurality of pairs of opposed elongated slits located along each of the two opposed outside side edges thereof, each of said pairs of elongated slits being sized and shaped to receive a strap associated with the pad, one end of the strap being threaded through one pair of opposed elongated slits located on one of said two opposed outside side edges of said first length of fabric material and the other end of the strap being threaded through one pair of opposed elongated slits located on the other of said two opposed outside side edges of said first length of fabric material;   said first and second lengths of fabric material being secured to the particular region of the garment for positioning and securing the pad substantially over the particular region of the garment to which it is secured.   
     
     
         10 . The pad holding mechanism of  claim 9  wherein at least some of said plurality of pairs of elongated slits located on each of said two opposed outside side edges of said first length of fabric material are offset horizontally from the other plurality of pairs of elongated slits located on each of said two opposed outside side edges of said first length of fabric material. 
     
     
         11 . The pad holding mechanism of  claim 10  wherein at least some of said offset pairs of elongated slits located on each of said two opposed outside side edges of said first length of fabric material overlap vertically with at least some of the other plurality of pairs of elongated slits located on each of said two opposed outside side edges of said first length of fabric material. 
     
     
         12 . The pad holding mechanism of  claim 9  wherein said first and second lengths of fabric material are secured together to form a pocket, said pocket being sized and shaped to receive the pad. 
     
     
         13 . The pad holding mechanism of  claim 9  wherein the particular region of the garment to which said first and second lengths of fabric material are secured is a knee region of a pantleg. 
     
     
         14 . The pad holding mechanism of  claim 9  wherein the particular region of the garment to which said first and second lengths of fabric material are attached is an elbow region of a shirt sleeve. 
     
     
         15 . A pad holding mechanism for holding a pad over a particular region of a garment comprising:
 a first length of fabric material secured to the particular region of a garment in a manner which forms an interior space with the garment, said first length of fabric material having a plurality of pairs of opposed elongated slits located along each of the two opposed outside side edges thereof, each of said pairs of elongated slits being sized and shaped to receive a strap associated with the pad;   said plurality of elongated slits on each of the two opposed outside side edges of said first length of fabric material allowing a user to position and secure the pad substantially over the particular region of the garment to which the first length of fabric material is attached when a strap associated with the pad is positioned through a pair of opposed elongated slits located on each of the two opposed outside side edges of the first length of fabric material.

The pad holding mechanism of  claim 15  wherein at least some of said plurality of pairs of elongated slits located on each of said two opposed outside side edges of said first length of fabric material are offset horizontally from the other plurality of pairs of elongated slits located on each of said two opposed outside side edges of said first length of fabric material. 
     
     
         17 . The pad holding mechanism of  claim 16  wherein at least some of said offset pairs of elongated slits located on each of said two opposed outside side edges of said first length of fabric material overlap vertically with at least some of the other plurality of pairs of elongated slits located on each of said two opposed outside side edges of said first length of fabric material. 
     
     
         18 . The pad holding mechanism of  claim 15  wherein said first length of fabric material is secured to the particular region of the garment in a manner which forms a pocket with the garment, said pocket being sized and shaped to receive the pad. 
     
     
         19 . The pad holding mechanism of  claim 15  wherein the particular region of the garment to which said first length of fabric material is attached is a knee region of a pantleg. 
     
     
         20 . The pad holding mechanism of  claim 15  wherein the particular region of the garment to which said first length of fabric material is attached is an elbow region of a shirt sleeve.
