Modular screed box
Abstract
A screed box includes a screed bucket, a screed plate mount attached to the screed bucket, a screed plate slidably connected to the screed plate mount and a screed bar attached to a bottom of the screed bucket. The screed plate mount includes a sealing edge. The screed plate includes at least one screed flange. The screed bar includes a body and a sealing lip including at least one projection. The screed bar is slidable between an open position where the sealing lip engages the sealing edge and a closed position where the sealing lip is disengaged from the sealing edge, and the at least one projection engages the sealing edge when the screed bar is in the open position and when the screed bar is in a closed position.

a longitudinally-extending body having a fore end, an aft end, a first side, and a second side; a sealing lip extending from the aft end at a bottom of the body; and a projection extending horizontally from the sealing lip.
2 . The screed bar of claim 1 , further comprising:
a sloped edge disposed at the aft end, and extending between and connecting the body and the sealing lip.
3 . The screed bar of claim 2 , wherein the sloped edge extends at an obtuse angle away from a top of the body to the sealing lip to facilitate flow of fluid from the top of the body to the sealing lip.
4 . The screed bar of claim 3 , wherein the sloped edge includes a constant slope between the sealing edge and the top of the body.
5 . The screed bar of claim 1 , further comprising:
a first rail attached to and projecting from the first side; and a second rail attached to and projecting from the second side.
6 . The screed bar of claim 5 , further comprising:
a first bolt hole extending into the first side forward of the first rail; and a second bolt hole extending into the second side forward of the second rail.
7 . The screed bar of claim 1 , wherein the projection is disposed on the sealing lip equidistant from the first side and the second side.
8 . The screed bar of claim 1 , further comprising:
a second projection extending from the lip; and a gap disposed between the first projection and the second projection.
9 . The screed bar of claim 8 , further comprising:
a first rail attached to and projecting from the first side; and a second rail attached to and projecting from the second side.
10 . The screed bar of claim 8 , wherein:
the first projection extends from the sealing lip proximate the first side; and the second projection extends from the sealing lip proximate the second side.
11 . The screed bar of claim 10 , wherein:
the first projection comprises a first plate extending aft from the sealing lip; and the second projection comprises a second plate extending aft from the sealing lip.
12 . A screed plate for a thermoplastic line striper, the screed plate comprising:
a vertical portion, the vertical portion comprising:
a top edge;
a lower lip disposed opposite the top edge;
a first screed flange extending from the lower lip; and
a body extending between the top edge and the lower lip;
a horizontal portion projecting perpendicularly from the top edge of the vertical portion.
13 . The screed plate of claim 12 , wherein:
a first notch extends between a first side edge of the vertical portion and the first screed flange; a second notch extends between a second side edge of the vertical portion and the first screed flange; and a width of the first notch is equal to a width of the second notch.
14 . The screed plate of claim 12 , further comprising:
a second screed flange extending from the lower lip; and a notch disposed between the first screed flange and the second screed flange.
15 . The screed plate of claim 14 , wherein:
the first screed flange extends from a first side edge of the vertical portion to the notch; and the second screed flange extends from a second side edge of the vertical portion to the notch.
16 . The screed plate of claim 12 , wherein the horizontal portion includes a plurality of positioning apertures.
17 . The screed plate of claim 16 , wherein the plurality of positioning apertures includes:
a first positioning aperture disposed proximate to a first side of the screed plate; and a second positioning aperture disposed proximate a second side of the screed plate.
18 . The screed plate of claim 16 , wherein the plurality of positioning apertures extend across the horizontal portion, through the top edge of the vertical portion, and into the body of the vertical portion.
19 . The screed plate of claim 16 , wherein each of the plurality of positioning apertures is configured to receive a neck of a positioning screw, such that a head of the positioning screw is disposed above the positioning aperture and a shoulder of the positioning screw is disposed below the positioning aperture, and wherein a width of the neck is greater than a width of the positioning aperture.
