Abstract

Certain embodiments are directed to methods of treating respiratory infection by administering an H 2 S donor.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A method for treating an orthomyxovirus viral infection of the respiratory tract of a subject comprising administering an effective amount of a H 2 S donor to the subject.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the orthomxyovirus is Influenza A, Influenza B, or Influenza C virus.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the subject is suspected of having a respiratory tract infection.

4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the subject has been diagnosed with a respiratory tract infection.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the subject is suspected of being exposed to orthomyxovirus.

6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the H 2 S donor is administered by inhalation or inspiration into the respiratory tract.

         7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the H 2 S donor is a slow release H 2 S donor.

8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the slow release H 2 S donor is administered in combination with a fast release H 2 S donor.

         9 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the H 2 S donor is Gyy4137, ACS67, diallyl trisulfide, NaHS, ATB-343, ATB-337, or AP67.

         10 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the H 2 S donor is Gyy4137 or AP67.
