Abstract

A bolt action upper receiver for use with a firearm is provided. The bolt action upper receiver includes a body portion having an aperture extending from the front end through the back end of the body portion; an opening on a bottom surface of the body portion. The opening allows for a bolt and bolt carrier to be operatively coupled within the body portion and further the opening allows for a projectile to be loaded within the upper receiver in response to operating a bolt action of the upper receiver. The body portion may be removably coupled to a lower receiver through a two pin connection. The lower receiver may include a recess, wherein the recess receives a protrusion coupled to a receiver end plate to eliminate or reduce turning of the stock. The upper receiver further comprises an attachment device for coupling a stock directly to the upper receiver.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A bolt action upper receiver for use with a firearm, the bolt action upper receiver comprising:
 a body portion having an aperture extending from the front end through the back end of the body portion; and an opening on a bottom surface of the body portion, wherein
 the opening provides access to the aperture extending through the body portion;
 the opening allows for a bolt and bolt carrier to be operatively coupled within the body portion and further the opening allows for a projectile to be loaded within the upper receiver in response to operating a bolt action of the upper receiver.

         2 . The bolt action upper receiver of claim 1 , wherein the body portion may be removably coupled to a lower receiver through a two pin connection.

         3 . The bolt action upper receiver of claim 2 , wherein the lower receiver includes a recess, wherein the recess receives a protrusion coupled to a receiver end plate.

         4 . The bolt action upper receiver of claim 3 , wherein the recess engaged by the receiver endplate protrusion operates to eliminate or reduce turning of the stock.

         5 . The bolt action upper receiver of claim 4 , wherein the protrusion coupled to the receiver end plate moves out of an open upper end of the recess of the lower receiver in response to rotation of the upper receiver about a from pin of a the two pin connection.

         6 . The bolt action upper receiver of claim 1 , wherein the upper receiver further comprises an attachment device for coupling a stock directly to the upper receiver.

         7 . The bolt action upper receiver of claim 1 , further comprising a channel extending through the body portion, wherein the channel is adjacent to and engages the aperture extending through the body portion.

         8 . The bolt action upper receiver of claim 7 , wherein the channel allows a bolt and bolt carrier to be operatively coupled within the body portion and allows for a projectile to be loaded within the upper receiver.

         9 . The bolt action upper receiver of claim 7 , wherein the channel is of a size and shape to prevent a gas key coupled to a bolt carrier to be received within the upper receiver.

         10 . The bolt action upper receiver of claim 1 , wherein the upper receiver does not include a hole for acceptance of a gas tube.

         11 . A firearm comprising:
 a lower receiver; and a bolt action upper receiver coupled to the lower receiver, the bolt action upper receiver comprising:
 a body portion having an aperture extending from the front end through the back end of the body portion; and
 an opening on a bottom surface of the body portion, wherein
 the opening provides access to the aperture extending through the body portion;
 the opening allows for a bolt and bolt carrier to be operatively coupled within the body portion and further the opening allows for a projectile to be loaded within the upper receiver in response to operating a bolt action of the upper receiver.

         12 . The firearm of claim 11 , wherein the body portion may be removably coupled to a lower receiver through a two pin connection.

         13 . The firearm of claim 11 , wherein the lower receiver includes a recess, wherein the recess receives a protrusion coupled to a receiver end plate.

         14 . The firearm of claim 13 , wherein the recess engaged by the receiver endplate protrusion operates to eliminate or reduce turning of the stock.

         15 . The firearm of claim 11 , wherein the upper receiver further comprises an attachment device for coupling a stock directly to the upper receiver.

         16 . The firearm of claim 11 , further comprising a stock coupled to the upper receiver.

         17 . The firearm of claim 11 , further comprising a barrel coupled to the upper receiver and a handguard coupled to the upper receiver, wherein the barrel extends through the handguard.

         18 . A bolt action upper receiver and lower receiver assembly for use with a firearm, the assembly comprising:
 a bolt action receiver comprising:
 a body portion having an aperture extending from the front end through the back end of the body portion; and
 an opening on a bottom surface of the body portion, wherein:
 the opening provides access to the aperture extending through the body portion;
 the opening allows for a bolt and bolt carrier to be operatively coupled within the body portion and further the opening allows for a projectile to be loaded within the upper receiver in response to operating a bolt action of the upper receiver; and

   a lower receiver removably coupled to the upper receiver, the lower receiver including a recess, wherein the recess receives a protrusion coupled to a receiver end plate.

         19 . The assembly of claim 18 , wherein the body portion may be removably coupled to a lower receiver through a two pin connection.

         20 . The assembly of claim 18 , wherein the upper receiver further comprises an attachment device for coupling a stock directly to the upper receiver.
