Apparatus for Generating Energy from a Fluid Flow Induced Movement of a Contacting Surface Structure Relative to an Opening to a Cavity in a Frame
Abstract
A generator moving through a medium has a contacting surface structure relative to a frame with a spring coupled between the two. The contacting surface structure also has an electrogenerative portion coupled to the contacting surface structure and the frame, such as a piezoelectric or electromagnetic structure, although other types of structures are known within the art. The movement of the frame through the medium exerts forces upon the contacting surface structure which causes contacting surface structure movement relative to the base structure through the electrogenerative portion. The spring provides a force upon the contacting surface structure in response to the force from the fluid flow.

exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A fluid flow generator comprising:
a frame comprising a cavity and an opening in a surface of said frame connecting to said cavity; a contacting surface for contacting a fluid flow over said surface of said frame and positioned relative to said opening in said surface to at least partially enclose said cavity, wherein said fluid flow results from movement of said frame through a medium comprising a gas; a spring positioned to contact both said frame and said contacting surface; and an energy converting portion interposed between said frame and said contacting surface for converting energy from movement of said contacting surface relative to said frame due to said fluid flow.
2 . The fluid flow generator of claim 1 , wherein said frame is a rigid material.
3 . The fluid flow generator of claim 1 further comprising an elastic membrane connected to said contacting surface and said frame and positioned relative to said contacting surface and said opening in said frame surface to enclose said cavity.
4 . The fluid flow generator of claim 1 , wherein said contacting surface of said covering further comprises a shaped structure that extends beyond said frame and into said fluid flow.
5 . The fluid flow generator of claim 1 , wherein said contacting surface further comprises at least one of a curvilinear surface shape, a faceted surface shape and an angular shape.
6 . The fluid flow generator of claim 1 , wherein said opening comprises a plurality of edges on said frame surface and
said contacting surface is directly connected to one of said plurality of edges and not directly connected to at least another of said plurality of edges.
7 . The fluid flow generator of claim 1 , wherein said energy converting portion is made of at least one of a piezoelectric material, a magnet, a wire coil, and a nanowire.
8 . The fluid flow generator of claim 1 further comprising an energy storing device.
9 . The fluid flow generator of claim 8 , wherein said energy storing device is made of at least one of a battery, a capacitor, a super capacitor, a flywheel, and a pressure tank.
10 . A fluid flow generator comprising:
a frame comprising a cavity and an opening in a surface of said frame connecting to said cavity; a covering positioned within said opening to cover at least a portion of said opening in said frame surface and to at least partially enclose said cavity; said covering comprising a rigid composition having a curvilinear shape for contacting a fluid flow, wherein said fluid flow results from movement of said frame through a medium comprising a gas; a spring coupled between said frame and said covering; and an energy converting portion interposed between said frame and said covering for converting energy from movement of said covering relative to said frame due to said fluid flow.
11 . The fluid flow generator of claim 10 further comprising an elastic membrane connected to said contacting surface and said frame and positioned relative to said contacting surface and said opening in said frame surface to enclose said cavity.
12 . The fluid flow generator of claim 10 , wherein said energy converting portion is made of at least one of a piezoelectric material, a magnet, a wire coil, and a nanowire.
13 . The fluid flow generator of claim 10 , further comprising an energy storing device.
14 . A fluid flow generator comprising:
a frame comprising a cavity and an opening in a surface of said frame connecting to said cavity; a fluid contacting means for contacting a fluid flow and at least partially enclosing said cavity, wherein said fluid contacting means is movable relative to said frame due to a fluid flow force resulting from movement of said frame through a medium comprising a gas; a spring means for providing a restorative force on said fluid contacting means in opposition to said fluid flow force, wherein said spring means is coupled to said frame and said fluid contacting means; an energy converting means interposed between said frame and said fluid contacting means for converting energy from movement of said fluid contacting means relative to said frame due to said fluid flow force.
15 . The fluid flow generator of claim 14 further comprising an elastic means for fully enclosing said cavity.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
