Abstract
The present invention relates to probiotic compositions and methods of using such compositions. In particular, the present invention provides method of using Faecalibacterium spp. to improve weight gain, provide prophylaxis against diarrhea and/or improve feed efficiency in an animal.

A probiotic composition for administration to a domestic animal comprising Faecalibacteriurn spp. in combination with an additional additive selected from the group consisting of an energy substrate, a mineral, a vitamin, at least a second probiotic organism selected from the group consisting of Lactobacillus acidophilus, L. lactis, L. plantarum, L. casei, Bacillus subtilis, B. lichenformis, Enterococcus faeciurn, Bifidobacterium bifidum, B. longum, B. thermophilum, Propionibacterium jensenii , and yeast, and combinations thereof.
2 . The probiotic composition of claim 1 , wherein said composition is formulated as an oral delivery vehicle powder, bolus, gel, drench, or capsule, said oral delivery vehicle suitable for administration to a domestic animal.
3 . The probiotic composition of claim 1 , wherein said Faecalibacteriurn spp. is provided in an amount effective to improve weight gain, improve feed efficiency, or provide prophylaxis against diarrhea in said domestic animal.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
