Abstract

The disclosure relates to a peptide (SEQ ID NO: 5), the use of said peptide for the treatment of the symptoms associated with pain, the use of said peptide for the inhibition of the activity of influenza virus and a pharmaceutical composition containing the peptide.

         19 . A pharmaceutical composition comprising:
 a therapeutically effective amount of a peptide comprising one or more sequences selected from the group consisting of:   a) an amino acid sequence of DEAQETAVSSHEQD (SEQ ID NO: 5),   b) an amino acid sequence sharing at least 50% homology to the amino acid sequence of DEAQETAVSSHEQD (SEQ ID NO: 5) wherein the amino acid sequence of b) possesses analgesic activity, anti-influenza A virus activity, or both analgesic activity and anti-influenza A virus activity;   c) an amino acid sequence having one to seven conserved amino acid substitutions compared to the amino acid sequence of DEAQETAVSSHEQD (SEQ ID NO: 5), or a variant or derivative thereof, wherein the amino acid sequence of c) possesses analgesic activity, anti-influenza A virus activity, or both analgesic activity and anti-influenza A virus activity; and   a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.   
     
     
         20 . The pharmaceutical composition of  claim 19  wherein the peptide is the amino acid sequence of DEAQETAVSSHEQD (SEQ ID NO: 5).

The pharmaceutical composition of  claim 19  wherein the peptide is an amino acid sequence sharing at least 75% homology to the amino acid sequence of DEAQETAVSSHEQD (SEQ ID NO: 5) wherein the amino acid possesses analgesic activity, anti-influenza A virus activity, or both analgesic activity and anti-influenza A virus activity. 
     
     
         22 . The pharmaceutical composition of  claim 19  wherein the peptide is an amino acid sequence sharing at least 80% homology to the amino acid sequence of DEAQETAVSSHEQD (SEQ ID NO: 5) wherein the amino acid possesses analgesic activity, anti-influenza A virus activity, or both analgesic activity and anti-influenza A virus activity. 
     
     
         23 . The pharmaceutical composition of  claim 19  wherein the peptide is an amino acid sequence sharing at least 85% homology to the amino acid sequence of DEAQETAVSSHEQD (SEQ ID NO: 5) wherein the amino acid possesses analgesic activity, anti-influenza A virus activity, or both analgesic activity and anti-influenza A virus activity. 
     
     
         24 . The pharmaceutical composition of  claim 19  wherein the peptide is an amino acid sequence sharing at least 90% homology to the amino acid sequence of DEAQETAVSSHEQD (SEQ ID NO: 5) wherein the amino acid possesses analgesic activity, anti-influenza A virus activity, or both analgesic activity and anti-influenza A virus activity. 
     
     
         25 . The pharmaceutical composition of  claim 19  wherein the peptide is an amino acid sequence having one to seven conserved amino acid substitutions compared to the amino acid sequence of DEAQETAVSSHEQD (SEQ ID NO: 5), or a variant or derivative thereof, wherein the amino acid sequence of possesses analgesic activity, anti-influenza A virus activity, or both analgesic activity and anti-influenza A virus activity.

The pharmaceutical composition of  claim 19  wherein the peptide is an amino acid sequence having one conserved amino acid substitutions compared to the amino acid sequence of DEAQETAVSSHEQD (SEQ ID NO: 5), or a variant or derivative thereof, wherein the amino acid sequence of c) possesses analgesic activity, anti-influenza A virus activity, or both analgesic activity and anti-influenza A virus activity.

The pharmaceutical composition of  claim 19  wherein the peptide is an amino acid sequence having two conserved amino acid substitutions compared to the amino acid sequence of DEAQETAVSSHEQD (SEQ ID NO: 5), or a variant or derivative thereof, wherein the amino acid sequence of c) possesses analgesic activity, anti-influenza A virus activity, or both analgesic activity and anti-influenza A virus activity.

The pharmaceutical composition of  claim 19  wherein the peptide is an amino acid sequence having three conserved amino acid substitutions compared to the amino acid sequence of DEAQETAVSSHEQD (SEQ ID NO: 5), or a variant or derivative thereof, wherein the amino acid sequence of c) possesses analgesic activity, anti-influenza A virus activity, or both analgesic activity and anti-influenza A virus activity.

The pharmaceutical composition of  claim 19  wherein the peptide is an amino acid sequence having four conserved amino acid substitutions compared to the amino acid sequence of DEAQETAVSSHEQD (SEQ ID NO: 5), or a variant or derivative thereof, wherein the amino acid sequence of c) possesses analgesic activity, anti-influenza A virus activity, or both analgesic activity and anti-influenza A virus activity.

The pharmaceutical composition of  claim 19  wherein the peptide is an amino acid sequence having five conserved amino acid substitutions compared to the amino acid sequence of DEAQETAVSSHEQD (SEQ ID NO: 5), or a variant or derivative thereof, wherein the amino acid sequence of c) possesses analgesic activity, anti-influenza A virus activity, or both analgesic activity and anti-influenza A virus activity.

The pharmaceutical composition of  claim 19  wherein the peptide is an amino acid sequence having six conserved amino acid substitutions compared to the amino acid sequence of DEAQETAVSSHEQD (SEQ ID NO: 5), or a variant or derivative thereof, wherein the amino acid sequence of c) possesses analgesic activity, anti-influenza A virus activity, or both analgesic activity and anti-influenza A virus activity.

The pharmaceutical composition of  claim 19  wherein the peptide is an amino acid sequence having seven conserved amino acid substitutions compared to the amino acid sequence of DEAQETAVSSHEQD (SEQ ID NO: 5), or a variant or derivative thereof, wherein the amino acid sequence of c) possesses analgesic activity, anti-influenza A virus activity, or both analgesic activity and anti-influenza A virus activity. 
     
     
         33 . The pharmaceutical composition of  claim 19  wherein the peptide is a fragment of rabbit α1-antiproteinase F.
