Discoverable collaboration teams
Abstract
Disclosed are systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable storage media for implementing discoverable collaboration teams. In some embodiments, a user of a content management system can create a team account within the content management system. The team account can be associated with a domain of the user (now administrator) of the team account. The domain can be an email domain, company name, or some other identifier or characteristic of the user that might be shared with other users. The administrator can specify discoverability settings for the team that allow other content management system users associated with the domain to automatically discover and/or join the team account.

1 . A method comprising:
detecting, by a content management system, that a first user has logged into a first user account managed by the content management system from a client device; determining, by the content management system, that the first user account is associated with a first domain; determining, by the content management system, that the first domain corresponds to a second domain of a collaboration team account managed by the content management system; and based on the determination that the first domain of the first user account corresponds to the second domain of the collaboration team account, causing a prompt to be presented to the client device prompting the first user to join the collaboration team account.
2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
determining, by the content management system, that an automatic discovery setting of the collaboration team account allows for automatic discovery of the collaboration team; based on the determination that the automatic discovery setting of the collaboration team account allows for automatic discovery of the collaboration team, causing a prompt to be presented to the client device prompting the first user to join the collaboration team account.
3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the automatic discovery setting allows users to automatically join the collaboration team account, and further comprising:
receiving, by the content management system, an indication that the first user wishes to join the collaboration team account; and automatically joining the first user to the collaboration team account.
4 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the automatic discovery setting allows users to request to join the collaboration team account, and further comprising:
receiving, by the content management system, an indication that the first user wishes to join the collaboration team account; prompting an administrator of the collaboration team account to allow the first user to join the collaboration team account; and upon receiving approval from the administrator, joining the first user to the collaboration team account.
5 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
joining, by the content management system, the first user account to the collaboration team account; sharing, by the content management system, a shared team folder corresponding to the collaboration team account with the first user account.
6 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
joining, by the content management system, the first user account to the collaboration team account; sharing, by the content management system, a one or more resources allocated to the collaboration team account by the content management system with the first user account.
7 . The method of claim 6 , wherein the one or more resources include storage space, team licenses, or collaboration tools allocated to the collaboration team.
8 . A non-transitory computer-readable medium including one or more sequences of instructions that, when executed by one or more processors, causes:
detecting, by a content management system, that a first user has logged into a first user account managed by the content management system from a client device; determining, by the content management system, that the first user account is associated with a first domain; determining, by the content management system, that the first domain corresponds to a second domain of a collaboration team account managed by the content management system; and based on the determination that the first domain of the first user account corresponds to the second domain of the collaboration team account, causing a prompt to be presented to the client device prompting the first user to join the collaboration team account.
9 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 8 , wherein the instructions cause:
determining, by the content management system, that an automatic discovery setting of the collaboration team account allows for automatic discovery of the collaboration team; based on the determination that the automatic discovery setting of the collaboration team account allows for automatic discovery of the collaboration team, causing a prompt to be presented to the client device prompting the first user to join the collaboration team account.
10 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 9 , wherein the automatic discovery setting allows users to automatically join the collaboration team account, and wherein the instructions cause:
receiving, by the content management system, an indication that the first user wishes to join the collaboration team account; and automatically joining the first user to the collaboration team account.
11 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 9 , wherein the automatic discovery setting allows users to request to join the collaboration team account, and wherein the instructions cause:
receiving, by the content management system, an indication that the first user wishes to join the collaboration team account; prompting an administrator of the collaboration team account to allow the first user to join the collaboration team account; and upon receiving approval from the administrator, joining the first user to the collaboration team account.
12 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 8 , wherein the instructions cause:
joining, by the content management system, the first user account to the collaboration team account; sharing, by the content management system, a shared team folder corresponding to the collaboration team account with the first user account.
13 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 8 , wherein the instructions cause:
joining, by the content management system, the first user account to the collaboration team account; sharing, by the content management system, a one or more resources allocated to the collaboration team account by the content management system with the first user account.
14 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 13 , wherein the one or more resources include storage space, team licenses, or collaboration tools allocated to the collaboration team.
15 . A system comprising:
one or more processors; and a computer-readable medium including one or more sequences of instructions that, when executed by one or more processors, causes:
detecting, by a content management system, that a first user has logged into a first user account managed by the content management system from a client device;
determining, by the content management system, that the first user account is associated with a first domain;
determining, by the content management system, that the first domain corresponds to a second domain of a collaboration team account managed by the content management system; and
based on the determination that the first domain of the first user account corresponds to the second domain of the collaboration team account, causing a prompt to be presented to the client device prompting the first user to join the collaboration team account.
16 . The system of claim 15 , wherein the instructions cause:
determining, by the content management system, that an automatic discovery setting of the collaboration team account allows for automatic discovery of the collaboration team; based on the determination that the automatic discovery setting of the collaboration team account allows for automatic discovery of the collaboration team, causing a prompt to be presented to the client device prompting the first user to join the collaboration team account.
17 . The system of claim 16 , wherein the automatic discovery setting allows users to automatically join the collaboration team account, and wherein the instructions cause:
receiving, by the content management system, an indication that the first user wishes to join the collaboration team account; and automatically joining the first user to the collaboration team account.
18 . The system of claim 16 , wherein the automatic discovery setting allows users to request to join the collaboration team account, and wherein the instructions cause:
receiving, by the content management system, an indication that the first user wishes to join the collaboration team account; prompting an administrator of the collaboration team account to allow the first user to join the collaboration team account; and upon receiving approval from the administrator, joining the first user to the collaboration team account.
19 . The system of claim 15 , wherein the instructions cause:
joining, by the content management system, the first user account to the collaboration team account; sharing, by the content management system, a shared team folder corresponding to the collaboration team account with the first user account.
20 . The system of claim 15 , wherein the instructions cause:
joining, by the content management system, the first user account to the collaboration team account; sharing, by the content management system, a one or more resources allocated to the collaboration team account by the content management system with the first user account.
