Abstract

A display device is disclosed. The display device includes a first substrate, a frame positioned in the rear of the first substrate, a second substrate opposite the first substrate and positioned between the first substrate and the frame, the second substrate having an area less than an area of the first substrate, and a member layer electrically connected to the first substrate and extended toward the frame.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A display device comprising:
 a front substrate comprising a plurality of electrode lines;   a back substrate disposed opposite the front substrate and comprising a color filter layer;   a frame disposed at a rear of the back substrate; and   a member layer electrically coupled to the front substrate and extended toward the frame.   
     
     
         2 . The display device of  claim 1 , wherein the front substrate comprises a thin film transistor (TFT). 
     
     
         3 . The display device of  claim 2 , wherein the TFT is electrically coupled to at least one of the plurality of electrode lines. 
     
     
         4 . The display device of  claim 1 , wherein at least a portion of the plurality of electrode lines is externally exposed from the back substrate and the member layer is electrically coupled to the externally exposed portion of the plurality of electrode lines. 
     
     
         5 . The display device of  claim 1 , wherein the display device further comprises a cover layer between the front substrate and the plurality of electrode lines. 
     
     
         6 . The display device of  claim 6 , wherein the cover layer is composed of a black-colored material. 
     
     
         7 . The display device of  claim 1 , wherein the display device further comprises a liquid crystal layer between the front substrate and the rear substrate. 
     
     
         8 . The display device of  claim 1 , wherein at least a side surface of the front substrate or a side surface of the back substrate is externally exposed. 
     
     
         9 . The display device of  claim 1 , wherein the display device further comprises a sealing member covering at least a side surface of the front substrate or a side surface of the back substrate. 
     
     
         10 . The display device of  claim 9 , wherein the sealing member does not cover the side surface of the back substrate. 
     
     
         11 . The display device of  claim 9 , wherein the sealing member covers the side surface of the front substrate and covers the side surface of the back substrate. 
     
     
         12 . The display device of  claim 9 , wherein the sealing member is in contact with a side surface of the front substrate. 
     
     
         13 . The display device of  claim 9 , wherein the sealing member does not cover a bottom surface of the back substrate. 
     
     
         14 . The display device of  claim 13 , wherein the member layer extends from a bottom side of the front substrate toward the frame. 
     
     
         15 . A display device comprising:
 a main frame;   a side frame disposed at a side of the main frame; and   a display panel disposed such that at least a portion of the display panel is in front of the side frame and a side surface of the display panel is externally exposed outside of the side frame and the main frame.   
     
     
         16 . The display device of  claim 15 , wherein the side frame comprises:
 an outer frame forming an exterior of the display device; and   an inner frame located inside the outer frame, wherein a rear surface of the inner frame is recessed in relation to a rear surface of the outer frame to form a step.   
     
     
         17 . The display device of  claim 16 , wherein the main frame is configured to correspond to the step and is coupled to the side frame. 
     
     
         18 . The display device of  claim 17 , wherein the main frame is affixed to the side frame. 
     
     
         19 . The display device of  claim 17 , wherein:
 the outer frame comprises a guide protrusion protruding toward an inner side of the side frame;   the main frame comprises a guide groove at a side surface the main frame and configured to correspond to the guide protrusion; and   the main frame is slidingly coupled to the side frame via the guide groove and guide protrusion.   
     
     
         20 . The display device of  claim 17 , wherein:
 the outer frame comprises a coupling protrusion at a rear surface of the outer frame protruding toward an inner side of the side frame and extending along a longitudinal direction of the outer frame; and   the main frame is slidingly coupled to the side frame via the coupling protrusion.   
     
     
         21 . The display device of  claim 16 , further comprising a backlight unit between the main frame and the display panel, wherein:
 the inner frame comprises a groove at a back surface of the inner frame;   the backlight unit comprises an optical sheet disposed in the inner frame and comprising a protruding coupling portion; and   the coupling portion of the optical sheet is coupled to the groove of the inner frame.   
     
     
         22 . The display device of  claim 21 , wherein the groove of the inner frame comprises a protruding hanging portion configured to be inserted into the coupling portion. 
     
     
         23 . The display device of  15 , wherein:
 the side frame is disposed on at least two sides of the main frame and comprises at least one corner corresponding to a corner of the display device; and   the display device further comprises a reinforcement member disposed at the at least one corner.   
     
     
         24 . The display device of  claim 23 , wherein the reinforcement member is disposed at an inner side of the side frame. 
     
     
         25 . The display device of  claim 15 , further comprising an adhesive member fixed to a front surface of the side frame, wherein the display panel is fixed to the adhesive member. 
     
     
         26 . The display device of  claim 25 , wherein the side frame comprises:
 a flat portion at an inner front surface; and   an sloped portion at an outer front surface;   wherein the adhesive member is fixed to the flat portion.   
     
     
         27 . The display device of  claim 15 , wherein:
 the main frame is shaped as a rectangular flat plate;   the side frame is disposed at three sides of the main frame; and   the display device further comprises a bottom frame disposed at a fourth side of the main frame and coupled to the side frame.   
     
     
         28 . The display device of  claim 27 , further comprising a wire electrically coupled to the display panel and extending from one side of the display panel and passing between the main frame and the bottom frame. 
     
     
         29 . The display device of  claim 28 , further comprising a control unit disposed behind the main frame, wherein the wire is electrically coupled to the control unit. 
     
     
         30 . The display device of  claim 27 , further comprising a back cover comprising a first side coupled to the main frame and a second side coupled to the bottom frame. 
     
     
         31 . The display device of  claim 27 , wherein upper, lower, left, and right sides of the display panel are all disposed outside of the side frame. 
     
     
         32 . The display device of  claim 31 , further comprising a sealing member coupled to the upper, lower, right, and left sides of the display panel. 
     
     
         33 . The display device of  claim 32 , wherein the sealing member is spaced apart from a front surface of the side frame.
