Abstract
The invention provides a two phase heat transfer device comprising an inlet for receiving a heat transfer fluid, and; an array of heat transfer fins in spaced relation; primary spaces between said heat transfer fins defining primary channels parallel to a path from the inlet to outlet, and; oblique spaces between said heat transfer fins defining oblique channels arranged at an angle to said primary channels. It is preferable that walls defining the primary and oblique spaces provide nucleate boiling regions and the interruption of fully developed convective boiling regions.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A two phase heat transfer device comprising:
an inlet for receiving a heat transfer fluid, and; an array of heat transfer fins in spaced relation; primary spaces between said heat transfer fins defining primary channels parallel to a path from the inlet to outlet, and; oblique spaces between said heat transfer fins defining oblique channels arranged at an angle to said primary channels; wherein walls defining the primary and oblique spaces providing nucleate boiling regions, and the interruption of fully developed convective boiling regions.
2 . The two phase heat transfer device according to claim 1 , wherein the oblique channels are arranged to provide alternative pathways for bubbles formed from said nucleate boiling regions between said primary channels.
3 . The two phase heat transfer device according to claim 1 , wherein apertures between the oblique and primary channels are arranged to interrupt fully developed thin liquid-film formed from said convective boiling regions in said primary channels.
4 . The two phase heat transfer device according to claim 1 , wherein said heat transfer fluid on entering the inlet is close to a saturation temperature.
5 . The two phase heat transfer device according to claim 1 , wherein said angle is in the range 10° to 50°.
6 . The two phase heat transfer device according to claim 5 , wherein said angle is in the range 30° to 50°.
7 . The two phase heat transfer device according to claim 5 , wherein said angle is 50°.
8 . The two phase heat transfer device according to claim 1 , wherein said two phase heat transfer device is arranged to dissipate applied heat flux greater than 20 W/cm 2 .
9 . The two phase heat transfer device according to claim 1 , wherein a mass flux for said heat transfer fluid is in the range 175 kg/m 2 to 349 kg/m 2 .
10 . The two phase heat transfer device according to claim 9 , wherein a mass flux for said heat transfer fluid is in the range 218 kg/m 2 to 306 kg/m 2 .
11 . The two phase heat transfer device according to claim 9 , wherein a mass flux for said heat transfer fluid is 262 kg/m 2 .Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
