Abstract
A system and method for providing features in a database system. In one embodiment, a method includes receiving, from a user, a request for a feature, where the feature is a functionality of the database system. The method further includes upgrading the database system, where the upgrading includes one or more provisioning steps that are based on the request from the user.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 .- 18 . (canceled)
19 . A method for providing features in a database system, the method comprising:
receiving, from a user, a request for a feature, wherein the feature is a functionality of the database system; and upgrading the database system, wherein the upgrading includes one or more provisioning steps that provision without delay the requested feature based on the request from the user.
20 . The method of claim 19 , wherein the upgrading is performed immediately upon receiving the request.
21 . The method of claim 19 , wherein the upgrading is performed on a per-user basis for each user from which a request is received.
22 . The method of claim 19 , wherein the one or more provisioning steps comprise updating a schema layout.
23 . The method of claim 19 , wherein the one or more provisioning steps comprise running database scripts.
24 . The method of claim 19 , wherein the one or more provisioning steps comprise updating database scripts.
25 . The method of claim 19 , wherein the user sends the request by checking a box.
26 . A computer-readable storage medium carrying one or more sequences of instructions thereon for providing features in a database system, the instructions when executed by a processor cause the processor to:
receive, from a user, a request for a feature, wherein the feature is a functionality of the database system; and upgrade the database system, wherein the upgrading includes one or more provisioning steps that provision without delay the requested feature based on the request from the user.
27 . The computer-readable storage medium of claim 26 , wherein the upgrading is performed immediately upon receiving the request.
28 . The computer-readable storage medium of claim 26 , wherein the upgrading is performed on a per-user basis for each user from which a request is received.
29 . The computer-readable storage medium of claim 26 , wherein the one or more provisioning steps comprise updating a schema layout.
30 . The computer-readable storage medium of claim 26 , wherein the one or more provisioning steps comprise running database scripts.
31 . The computer-readable storage medium of claim 26 , wherein the one or more provisioning steps comprise updating database scripts.
32 . The computer-readable storage medium of claim 26 , wherein the user sends the request by checking a box.
33 . An apparatus for providing features in a database system, the apparatus comprising:
a processor; and a storage device storing one or more stored sequences of instructions which when executed by the processor cause the processor to:
receive, from a user, a request for a feature, wherein the feature is a functionality of the database system; and
upgrade the database system, wherein the upgrading includes one or more provisioning steps that provision without delay the requested feature based on the request from the user.
34 . The apparatus of claim 33 , wherein the upgrading is performed immediately upon receiving the request.
35 . The apparatus of claim 33 , wherein the upgrading is performed on a per-user basis for each user from which a request is received.
36 . The apparatus of claim 33 , wherein the one or more provisioning steps comprise updating a schema layout.
37 . The apparatus of claim 33 , wherein the one or more provisioning steps comprise running database scripts.
38 . The apparatus of claim 33 , wherein the one or more provisioning steps comprise updating database scripts.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
