Abstract
A PAP system adapted for treatment of respiratory disease or sleep disordered breathing includes headgear adapted to engage a patient's head, a patient interface adapted to be secured to and sealed against a portion of a patient's face, in use, by the headgear, a flow generator adapted to be connected to the patient interface, and wherein the flow generator is adapted to be secured by a portion of the headgear to the patient's head, and an outlet tube to interconnect the flow generator and the patient interface. The patient interface includes a frame and a sealing arrangement supported by the frame. The sealing arrangement includes a seal portion, a body portion, and an inlet tube in communication with the outlet tube. The frame and the outlet tube are constructed of a relatively rigid material.

headgear adapted to engage a patient's head; a patient interface adapted to be secured to and sealed against a portion of a patient's face, in use, by the headgear; a flow generator adapted to be connected to the patient interface, and wherein the flow generator is adapted to be secured by a portion of the headgear to the patient's head; and an outlet tube to interconnect the flow generator and the patient interface; wherein the patient interface includes a frame and a sealing arrangement supported by the frame, the sealing arrangement including a seal portion, a body portion, and an inlet tube in communication with the outlet tube, wherein the frame and the outlet tube are constructed of a relatively rigid material.
2 . A PAP system according to claim 1 , wherein the body portion and/or the inlet tube are constructed of a relatively rigid material.
3 . A PAP system according to claim 1 , wherein the relatively rigid material is polycarbonate.
4 . A PAP system according to claim 2 , wherein the frame, body portion, and inlet tube are integrally formed in one piece of the relatively rigid material.
5 . A PAP system according to claim 1 , further comprising a flexible coupling between the outlet tube and the flow generator.
6 . A PAP system according to claim 1 , further comprising a flexible coupling between the outlet tube and the inlet tube.
7 . A PAP system according to claim 1 , wherein the seal portion includes a nasal seal.
8 . A PAP system according to claim 1 , wherein the body portion includes a vent.
9 . A PAP system according to claim 8 , wherein the vent is constructed of a relatively rigid material.
10 . A PAP system according to claim 1 , wherein the frame includes a forehead support.
11 . A PAP system according to claim 1 , wherein the headgear includes a cradle structured to engage the underside and/or sides of the flow generator.
12 . A mask arrangement, comprising:
a patient interface adapted to be secured to and sealed against a portion of a patient's face in use; and an outlet tube constructed of a relatively rigid material configured to receive a supply of pressurized gas from a flow generator in use, the patient interface including a frame constructed of a relatively rigid material and a cushion supported by the frame, the frame including an inlet tube in fluid communication with the outlet tube.
13 . A mask arrangement according to claim 12 , further comprising a flexible joint provided between the outlet tube and the inlet tube.
14 . A mask arrangement according to claim 13 , wherein the flexible joint includes a concertina connection or corrugated joint.
15 . A mask arrangement according to claim 12 , further comprising an inflexible coupling provided between the outlet tube and the inlet tube.
16 . A mask arrangement according to claim 12 , wherein the outlet tube and the inlet tube are rotatably coupled to one another.
17 . A mask arrangement according to claim 12 , wherein the outlet tube and the inlet tube are slidably coupled to one another.
18 . A mask arrangement according to claim 17 , wherein the slidable coupling is arranged to allow slidable adjustment of the combined length of the inlet tube and the outlet tube to adapt to different forehead heights.
19 . A mask arrangement according to claim 12 , wherein the outlet tube and the inlet tube are coupled to one another by a ball joint.
