Abstract

An intelligent television can provide various interfaces for providing video-on-demand (VOD). The user interfaces include unique visual representations and organizations that allow the user to utilize the intelligent television more easily and more effectively. Particularly, the user interfaces pertain to the display of VOD content and better organizations thereof. Further, the user interfaces provide unique process of transitioning between the VOD content.

         17 . A method for providing video-on-demand (VOD) in an intelligent television, the method comprising:
 receiving a selection for VOD content in a master view; providing a first collection view of VOD content; receiving a first selection to filter the VOD content by a first filter criteria; providing a second collection view of VOD content, wherein the second collection view is filtered by a first filter criteria; receiving, by a processor of the intelligent television, a second selection to filter the VOD content by a second filter criteria; determining content applicable to the first and second filter criteria; determining if last filter criteria has been received; when the last filter criteria has been received, providing a third collection view of the filtered content determined to meet the first and second filter criteria; when the last filter criteria has not been received:
 receiving, by a processor of the intelligent television, a third selection to filter the VOD content by a third filter criteria;
   determining content applicable to the first, second, and third filter criteria; and providing a fourth collection view of the filtered content determined to meet the first, second, and third filter criteria.

         18 . An intelligent television system comprising:
 a memory operable to store video-on-demand (VOD) content; a processor in communication with the memory, the processor operable to:
 execute a user interface application operable to:
 receive a selection for VOD content in a master view;
 provide a first collection view of VOD content;
 receive a first selection to filter the VOD content by a first filter criteria;
 provide a second collection view of VOD content, wherein the second collection view is filtered by a first filter criteria;
 receive a second selection to filter the VOD content by a second filter criteria;
 determine content applicable to the first and second filter criteria;
 determine if last filter criteria has been received;
 when the last filter criteria has been received, provide a third collection view of the filtered content determined to meet the first and second filter criteria;
 when the last filter criteria has not been received:
 receive a third selection to filter the VOD content by a third filter criteria;
 determine content applicable to the first, second, and third filter criteria; and
 provide a fourth collection view of the filtered content determined to meet the first, second, and third filter criteria.

         19 . The method as defined in claim 17 , wherein determining if the second selection is a last filter selection comprises determining if another user input is received.

         20 . The method as defined in claim 19 , wherein if the second selection is not the last filter selection, further comprising:
 receiving, by a processor of the intelligent television, a fourth selection to filter the VOD content by a fourth filter criteria that replaces the second and third filter criteria; determining content applicable to the fourth received selection; and providing a fifth collection view of the filtered content determined to meet the first and fourth filter criteria.

         21 . The method as defined in claim 19 , wherein if the second selection is the last filter selection, further comprising:
 receiving a fourth selection of an item of content in the third collection view; and providing a detail view of the selected content.

         22 . The method as defined in claim 21 , wherein the second selection to filter includes a filter criteria.

         23 . The method as defined in claim 22 , wherein the first, second, or third filter criteria is a location where the content was made.

         24 . The method as defined in claim 22 , wherein the first, second, or third filter criteria is a year at which the content was made.

         25 . The method as defined in claim 22 , wherein the first, second, or third filter criteria is a genre associated with the content.

         26 . The method as defined in claim 22 , wherein the first, second, and third filter criteria include two or more of the location, the year, and the genre.

         27 . The method as defined in claim 21 , wherein the detail view includes a description portion and a user-selectable device to play the content.

         28 . The intelligent television system as defined in claim 18 , wherein the user interface application is further operable to:
 wherein if the third selection is not the last filter selection, receive, by a processor of the intelligent television, a fourth selection to filter the VOD content, wherein the fourth selection replaces the second and third filter criteria with a fourth filter criteria; determine content applicable to the fourth received selection; and provide a fifth collection view of the filtered content determined to meet the first and fourth filter criteria.

         29 . The intelligent television system as defined in claim 18 , wherein the second selection to filter includes a filter criteria.

         30 . The intelligent television system as defined in claim 29 , wherein the first, second, or third filter criteria is one of a location where the content was made, a year at which the content was made, or a genre associated with the content.

         31 . The intelligent television system as defined in claim 30 , wherein the first, second, and third filter criteria include two or more of the location, the year, and the genre.

         32 . A non-transitory computer readable medium having stored thereon processor executable instructions that cause a computing system to execute a method, the instructions comprising:
 instructions to provide a first collection view of VOD content, wherein the first collection view is filtered by a first filter criteria, wherein the first filter criteria includes filtering VOD content from other types of content; instructions to receive a first selection to filter the VOD content by a second filter criteria; instructions to determine content applicable to the first and second filter criteria; instructions to provide a second collection view of the filtered content determined to meet the first and second filter criteria; instructions to receive a second selection to filter the VOD content by a third filter criteria; instructions to determine content applicable to the first, second, and third filter criteria; instructions to provide a third collection view of the filtered content determined to meet the first, second, and third filter criteria.

         33 . The non-transitory computer readable medium as defined in claim 32 , further comprises instructions to:
 wherein if the second selection is not the last filter selection, receive, by a processor of the intelligent television, a third selection to filter the VOD content; determine content applicable to the third received selection; provide a fourth collection view of the filtered content; wherein if the second selection is the last filter selection, receive a fourth selection of an item of content in the third collection view; and provide a detail view of the selected content.
