Abstract

A method of performing communication by a first electronic device is provided. The method includes receiving an input for communication with a third electronic device, determining at least one of a first communication module of the first electronic device and a second communication module of a second electronic device for the communication with the third electronic device, and controlling the first or second communication module for the communication with the third electronic device in response to the input.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A portable communication device comprising:
 a display;   communication circuitry; and   a processor adapted to:
 display, in relation with a telephone call with a first external electronic device, a first menu to perform the telephone call at the portable communication device, and a second menu to perform the telephone call at a second external electronic device, 
 receive an input with respect to the first menu or the second menu, 
 perform the telephone call at the portable communication device based at least in part on a determination that the input corresponds to the first menu, and 
 transmit, using the communication circuitry, a message to the second external electronic device based at least in part on a determination that the input corresponds to the second menu such that the telephone call is to be performed at the second external electronic device. 
   
     
     
         2 . The portable communication device of  claim 1 , wherein the processor is further adapted to:
 perform the displaying in response to another input received with respect to a call log displayed as at least part of a call log screen, the other input to initiate an outgoing telephone call.   
     
     
         3 . The portable communication device of  claim 1 , wherein the processor is further adapted to:
 perform the displaying based at least in part on a determination that a communication connection is established between the portable communication device and the second external electronic device.   
     
     
         4 . The portable communication device of  claim 1 , wherein the processor is further adapted to:
 perform the displaying based at least in part on a determination that a call application is executed at the portable communication device.   
     
     
         5 . The portable communication device of  claim 1 , wherein the processor is further adapted to:
 display, as at least part of the second menu, an icon, a text, a contact number, a phone number, a name of the second electronic device, or any combination thereof.   
     
     
         6 . The portable communication device of  claim 1 , wherein the processor is further adapted to:
 receive, via the display, a touch input or a hovering input as at least a part of the input.   
     
     
         7 . The portable communication device of  claim 1 ,
 wherein the communication circuitry is adapted to support a short-range communication, and   wherein the processor is further adapted to perform the transmitting via the short-range communication established between the portable communication device and the second external electronic device using the communication circuitry.   
     
     
         8 . The portable communication device of  claim 7 , wherein the short-range communication includes bluetooth or wifi. 
     
     
         9 . The portable communication device of  claim 1 , wherein the processor is further adapted to:
 transmit receiver information or sender information as at least part of the message.   
     
     
         10 . The portable communication device of  claim 1 ,
 wherein the communication circuitry comprises first communication circuitry or second communication circuitry, and   wherein the processor is further adapted to establish, based at least in part on a determination that a first communication connection established between the portable communication device and the second external electronic device using the first communication circuitry is disconnected, a second communication connection between the portable communication device and the second external electronic device using the second communication circuitry.   
     
     
         11 . The portable communication device of  claim 1 , wherein the portable communication device is at least one of a wearable device, a vehicle infotainment device, a vehicle head unit, or an electronic board. 
     
     
         12 . The portable communication device of  claim 1 , further comprising another communication circuitry adapted to support a cellular communication,
 wherein the processor is further adapted to perform the telephone call via the cellular communication established between the portable communication device and the first external electronic device using the other communication circuitry.   
     
     
         13 . A portable communication device comprising:
 a first communication circuitry adapted to communicate a telephone call via a communication carrier network;   a second communication circuitry adapted to support a short-range communication; and   a processor adapted to:
 establish, using the second communication circuitry, a communication connection between the portable communication device and an external electronic device, 
 determine that the communication connection is disconnected, and 
 transmit, using the first communication circuitry, a signal to the communication carrier network based at least in part on the determining that the communication connection is disconnected, wherein the telephone call is performed at the external electronic device. 
   
     
     
         14 . The portable communication device of  claim 13 , wherein the processor is further adapted to:
 perform the establishing via the short-range communication using the second communication circuitry.   
     
     
         15 . The portable communication device of  claim 13 , wherein the processor is further adapted to:
 deactivate the first communication circuitry based at least in part on the establishing.   
     
     
         16 . The portable communication device of  claim 13 , wherein the processor is further adapted to:
 perform the transmitting based at least in part on a determination that another communication connection between the portable communication device and the external electronic device is not established within a specified time period after the communication connection is disconnected.   
     
     
         17 . The portable communication device of  claim 13 , wherein the telephone call is forwarded from the portable communication device to the external electronic device, in response to the signal. 
     
     
         18 . A portable communication device comprising:
 a display;   a first communication circuitry adapted to support cellular communication;   a second communication circuitry adapted to support short range communication; and   a processor adapted to:
 display, in relation with a telephone call with a first external electronic device, a first menu to perform the telephone call at the portable communication device, and a second menu to perform the telephone call at a second external electronic device, 
 receive an input with respect to the first menu or the second menu, 
 perform, using the first communication circuitry, the telephone call via the cellular communication established between the portable communication device and the first external electronic device based at least in part on a determination that the input corresponds to the first menu, and 
 transmit, using the second communication circuitry, a message to the second external electronic device based at least in part on a determination that the input corresponds to the second menu such that the telephone call is to be performed at the second external electronic device. 
   
     
     
         19 . The portable communication device of  claim 18 , wherein the processor is further adapted to:
 perform the displaying based at least in part on a determination that a call application is executed at the portable communication device.   
     
     
         20 . The portable communication device of  claim 18 , wherein the processor is further adapted to:
 display, as at least part of the second menu, an icon, a text, a contact number, a phone number, a name of the second electronic device, or any combination thereof.
