Abstract

Implementations of this disclosure may assist users to communicate more effectively in online communications over a network such as emails, instant messaging, text messages, and social networking messages. In some implementations, systems and methods of this disclosure enable a message composer to augment a first message with one or more predefined or custom second messages where the second message is intended to convey an unspoken meaning about the first message. In some implementations, systems and methods of this disclosure enable a recipient of the augmented first message to rate the first message on its genuineness and to provide a predefined or custom explanation of the recipient's rating. In some implementations, systems and methods of this disclosure can change an online users' online picture (e.g., profile picture, avatar, etc.) based on ratings of the user's messages by recipients.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A computer-implemented method for augmenting an online communication, the method comprising:
displaying a user interface for composing a first original message and augmenting the first original message on a first computing device wherein the first original message is an online communication and the first original message is augmented with a predefined or custom second message where the second message conveys information regarding the meaning of the first message; originally receiving from an input device at the first computing device the first original message; receiving also from the input device at the first computing device the second message wherein the second message is not based on a non-human selection process; originally displaying the first original message and second message on the first computing device; originally transmitting the first time the first original message and second message from the first computing device where the messages are originally composed over a network wherein the first original message and second message are received and displayed by a second computing device; receiving on the first computing device a second original message and a third message wherein the second original message is responsive to the first original message thereby creating a communication and wherein the second original message is augmented with the third message; and displaying the second original message and the third message on the first computing device along with the first original message and second message.

2 . The method of claim 1 wherein the first original message is a text message.

3 . The method of claim 1 wherein the first original message is an email message

4 . The method of claim 1 wherein the first original message is a post on a webpage.

5 . The method of claim 1 wherein the first original message is an instant message.

6 . The method of claim 1 wherein the second message is an indication of whether the first original message is true or false.

7 . The method of claim 1 wherein second message is an underlying emotion of the composer of the first original message originally received from the input device at the first computing device where the first original message is originally composed.

8 . A computer-implemented method for augmenting an online communication, the method comprising:
displaying a user interface for composing a first original message and augmenting the first original message on a first computing device wherein the first original message is an online communication and the first original message is augmented with a predefined or custom second message where the second message conveys information regarding the meaning of the first message; originally receiving from an input device at the first computing device the first original message wherein the first original message is a text message; receiving also from the input device at the first computing device the second message wherein the second message is a predefined message and not based on a non-human selection process and wherein second message is an underlying emotion of the composer of the first original message originally received from the input device at the first computing device where the first original message is originally composed; originally displaying the first original message and second message on the first computing device; originally transmitting the first time the first original message and second message from the first computing device where the messages are originally composed over a network wherein the first original message and second message are received and displayed by a second computing device; receiving from the network on the first computing device a second original message that is responsive to the first original message and a third message thereby creating a communication wherein the second original message and third message is a text message and wherein the second original message is augmented with third message and wherein the third message is a predefined message and not based on a non-human selection process and wherein the third message is an underlying emotion of the composer of the second original message originally received from an input device at the second computing device where the second original message is originally composed; and displaying the second original message and the third message on the first computing device along with the first original message and second message.

9 . A non-transitory computer readable medium containing instructions that, when executed by a processor on a first computing device, cause the computing device to:
display a user interface for composing a first original message and augmenting the first original message on a first computing device wherein the first original message is an online communication and the first original message is augmented with a predefined or custom second message where the second message conveys information regarding the meaning of the first message; originally receive from an input device at the first computing device the first original message; receive also from the input device at the first computing device the second message wherein the second message is not based on a non-human selection process; originally display the first original message and second message on the first computing device; originally transmit the first time the first original message and second message from the first computing device where the messages are originally composed over a network wherein the first original message and second message are received and displayed by a second computing device; receive on the first computing device a second original message and third message wherein the second original message is responsive to the first original message thereby creating a communication wherein the second original message is augmented with the third message; and display the second original message and the third message on the first computing device along with the first original message and second message.
