Pesticide and repellent

Abstract

A pesticide or repellent comprising a liquid concentrate obtained from garlic juice by the removal of water from the juice.

         19 . A method of killing a pest or a nematode comprising the step of:
 exposing said pest or nematode to a pesticide or wood flour based granules impregnated with the pesticide, where the pesticide comprises a garlic juice liquid concentrate obtained from garlic juice by removal of water from the juice, wherein the concentrate has a Brix value between 60 and 80.   
     
     
         20 . The method of  claim 19 , wherein the water is removed by reduced pressure distillation at a temperature below 40° C. 
     
     
         21 . The method of  claim 19 , wherein said concentrate comprises poly-sulfides at a concentration in the range 2 to 4% w/w. 
     
     
         22 . The method of  claim 19 , wherein said concentrate comprises poly-sulfides, said poly-sulfides comprising dially-sulfides of the formula RSR, RS 2 R, RS 3 R and RS 4 R in the amount of 66%±10% by weight of the poly-sulfides present, and wherein R is an allyl group. 
     
     
         23 . The method of  claim 19 , wherein said concentrate comprises poly-sulfides, said poly-sulfides comprising diallyl sulfide:diallyl di-sulfide:diallyl tri-sulfide:diallyl tetra-sulfide in the approximate ratio of 4%-5%:5%-8%:31%-38%:19%-22% as weight % of the poly-sulfides present. 
     
     
         24 . The method of  claim 19 , wherein the water has been extracted by reverse osmosis. 
     
     
         25 . The method of  claim 19 , wherein said concentrate comprises a poly-sulfide content, and further poly-sulfides have been added to enrich the poly-sulfide content of the concentrate. 
     
     
         26 . The method of  claim 25 , wherein the further poly-sulfides have been added in the form of garlic oil. 
     
     
         27 . A method of repelling a bird, a rabbit, or an insect comprising the step of:
 exposing said bird, rabbit, or insect to a repellent or wood flour based granules impregnated with the repellant, wherein the repellant comprises a garlic juice liquid concentrate obtained from garlic juice by the removal of water from the juice, wherein the concentrate has a Brix value between 60 and 80.   
     
     
         28 . The method of  claim 27 , wherein the water is removed by reduced pressure distillation at a temperature below 40° C. 
     
     
         29 . The method of  claim 27 , wherein said concentrate comprises poly-sulfides at a concentration in the range 2 to 4% w/w.
