Abstract

The present invention relates to systems and methods relating to security checkpoints. In some embodiments the present invention includes a security checkpoint system that is optimized in one or more of design and decor, audio characteristics, and efficiency in passing customers through the security checkpoint and generating revenue with adverting and sponsorships.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A security checkpoint comprising:
 a non-sterile area including:
 a line management system having:
 a queue of passengers terminating at a first location in the non-sterile area, and an identification checking station to facilitate an identification check at the first location; and 
 one or more first sensory elements configured to produce a first sensory response by one or more passengers in the queue of passengers, the first sensory response causing modification of a first behavioral state by the one or more passengers; 
 
 a security screening system having:
 a security screening device configured to facilitate security screening of an identified passenger, the identified passenger having passed the identification check facilitated by the identification checking station; and 
 one or more second sensory elements configured to produce a second sensory response by the identified passenger, the second sensory response causing modification of a second behavioral state by the identified passenger; and 
 
   a sterile area adjacent to the non-sterile area, the sterile area having:
 a recomposure station having one or more recomposure elements to facilitate recomposure of a screened passenger, the screened passenger having been security screened by the security screening device; and 
 one or more third sensory elements configured to produce a third sensory response by the screened passenger, the third sensory response causing modification of a third behavioral state by the screened passenger. 
   
     
     
         2 . The security checkpoint of  claim 1 , wherein the first behavioral state is different from one or more of the second behavioral state and the third behavioral state. 
     
     
         3 . The security checkpoint of  claim 1 , wherein the second behavioral state is different from the third behavioral state. 
     
     
         4 . The security checkpoint of  claim 1 , wherein the first behavioral state is related to a first behavior, first mood, or first attitude of the one or more passengers. 
     
     
         5 . The security checkpoint of  claim 1 , wherein the second behavioral state is related to a second behavior, second mood, or second attitude of the identified passenger. 
     
     
         6 . The security checkpoint of  claim 1 , wherein the third behavioral state is related to a third behavior, third mood, or third attitude of the screened passenger. 
     
     
         7 . The security checkpoint of  claim 1 , wherein one or more of the modification of the first behavioral state, the modification of the second behavioral state, and the modification of the third behavioral state comprises a positive modification. 
     
     
         8 . The security checkpoint of  claim 1 , wherein one or more of the modification of the first behavioral state, the modification of the second behavioral state, and the modification of the third behavioral state comprises: an increased ability to receive instructions, a decrease in stress, an increase in alertness, an increase in an awareness of a threat level of the security checkpoint, an increase in efficiency of the security checkpoint, an increase in throughput through the security checkpoint, or an increase in speed through the security checkpoint. 
     
     
         9 . The security checkpoint of  claim 1 , wherein one or more of the first sensory elements, the second sensory elements, and the third sensory elements comprise olfactory elements, audio elements, visual elements, or tactile elements. 
     
     
         10 . The security checkpoint of  claim 1 , wherein one or more of the first sensory response, the second sensory response, and the third sensory response comprise an olfactory response, an audio response, a visual element response, or a tactile element response. 
     
     
         11 . A method comprising:
 providing a queue of passengers in a line management system in a non-sterile area of a security checkpoint, the queue of passengers terminating at a first location in the non-sterile area,   providing an identification checking station in the line management system,   providing a security screening system in the non-sterile area;   providing a recomposure station having one or more recomposure elements in a sterile area of the security checkpoint, the sterile area being adjacent to the non-sterile area;   facilitating an identification check at the identification checking station;   producing, using one or more first sensory elements in the line management system, a first sensory response by one or more passengers in the queue of passengers, the first sensory response causing modification of a first behavioral state by the one or more passengers;   facilitating security screening of an identified passenger at the security screening system, the identified passenger having passed the identification check facilitated by the identification checking station;   producing, using one or more second sensory elements in the security screening system, a second sensory response by the identified passenger, the second sensory response causing modification of a second behavioral state by the identified passenger;   facilitating recomposure of a screened passenger, the screened passenger having been security screened by the security screening system;   producing, using one or more third sensory elements in the sterile area, a third sensory response by the screened passenger, the third sensory response causing modification of a third behavioral state by the screened passenger.   
     
     
         12 . The method of  claim 11 , wherein the first behavioral state is different from one or more of the second behavioral state and the third behavioral state. 
     
     
         13 . The method of  claim 11 , wherein the second behavioral state is different from the third behavioral state. 
     
     
         14 . The method of  claim 11 , wherein the first behavioral state is related to a first behavior, first mood, or first attitude of the one or more passengers. 
     
     
         15 . The method of  claim 11 , wherein the second behavioral state is related to a second behavior, second mood, or second attitude of the identified passenger. 
     
     
         16 . The method of  claim 11 , wherein the third behavioral state is related to a third behavior, third mood, or third attitude of the screened passenger. 
     
     
         17 . The method of  claim 11 , wherein one or more of the modification of the first behavioral state, the modification of the second behavioral state, and the modification of the third behavioral state comprises a positive modification. 
     
     
         18 . The method of  claim 11 , wherein one or more of the modification of the first behavioral state, the modification of the second behavioral state, and the modification of the third behavioral state comprises: an increased ability to receive instructions, a decrease in stress, an increase in alertness, an increase in an awareness of a threat level of the security checkpoint, an increase in efficiency of the security checkpoint, an increase in throughput through the security checkpoint, or an increase in speed through the security checkpoint. 
     
     
         19 . The method of  claim 11 , wherein one or more of the first sensory elements, the second sensory elements, and the third sensory elements comprise olfactory elements, audio elements, visual elements, or tactile elements. 
     
     
         20 . The method of  claim 11 , wherein one or more of the first sensory response, the second sensory response, and the third sensory response comprise an olfactory response, an audio response, a visual element response, or a tactile element response. 
     
     
         21 . A security checkpoint comprising:
 a non-sterile area including:
 a line management system having:
 a queue of passengers terminating at a first location in the non-sterile area, and means for facilitating an identification check at the first location; and 
 one or more first sensory elements configured to produce a first sensory response by one or more passengers in the queue of passengers, the first sensory response causing modification of a first behavioral state by the one or more passengers; 
 
 security screening system having:
 means for facilitating security screening of an identified passenger, the identified passenger having passed the identification check facilitated by the identification checking station; and 
 one or more second sensory elements configured to produce a second sensory response by the identified passenger, the second sensory response causing modification of a second behavioral state by the identified passenger; and 
 
   a sterile area adjacent to the non-sterile area, the sterile area having:
 a recomposure station having one or more means for facilitating recomposure of a screened passenger, the screened passenger having been security screened by the means facilitating security screening; and one or more third sensory elements configured to produce a third sensory response by the screened passenger, the third sensory response causing modification of a third behavioral state by the screened passenger.
