Abstract
A method of generating force in a wellbore includes setting an anchor on a body of a force generating device. The method also includes moving an actuator rod of the force generating device and apply tension to a cable connected with the actuator rod, wherein the force generated by the force generating device is the sum of the tension on the cable and the force generated by the force generation device.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A method for applying a high force in a wellbore, the method comprising:
radially expanding anchors on a force generation device to engage walls of a wellbore; actuating a linear actuator of the force generation device to generate a force in a first direction; and applying tension from the surface to a cable connected with the linear actuator, wherein force applied to an apparatus connected with the linear actuator is the sum of the tension on the cable and the force generated by the linear actuator.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the apparatus is a toolstring, a sleeve, or a downhole tool.
3 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising releasing tension on the cable, and moving the linear actuator in a second direction.
4 . The method of claim 3 , further comprising moving the linear actuator in the first direction and adding pull in the cable.
5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the force generation device is connected with the apparatus when the apparatus is conveyed into the wellbore.
6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the force generation device is connected with the apparatus after the apparatus is stuck.
7 . A method for freeing a stuck cable, wherein the method comprises:
radially expanding anchors on a force generation device to engage walls of a wellbore; actuating a linear actuator of the force generation device and moving the linear actuator towards a cable connected thereto, thereby reducing weight on the cable; and pulling on the cable.
8 . The method of claim 7 , further removing the pull from the cable and moving the linear actuator in a direction away from the cable.
9 . The method of claim 8 , further comprising moving the linear actuator in the direction towards the cable and pulling on the cable.
10 . A force generation device for generating force in a wellbore, wherein the force generation device comprises:
a body; an anchor connected with the body; and a linear actuator located within the body, wherein the linear actuator is connected with a cable at one end, and force generated by the linear actuator is summed with force applied to the cable.
11 . The anchoring device of claim 10 , wherein the linear actuator is hydraulic.
12 . The anchoring device of claim 11 , wherein the linear actuator comprises a rod with a piston connected thereto.
13 . The anchoring device of claim 12 , wherein a piston chamber is located in the body, and wherein the piston is located in the piston chamber.
14 . The anchoring device of claim 11 , wherein the linear actuator is bidirectional.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
