Abstract

A pole which is designed to be inserted into the ground, the pole having a lower tapered segment at one end thereof, the lowered tapered segment having double helical threads thereon, and an upper segment upon which objects may be supported.

I claim: 
     
         1 . A pole designed to be inserted into the ground, said pole having a lower tapered segment at one end thereof, said lower tapered segment having double helical threads thereon, and an upper segment. 
     
     
         2 . The pole of  claim 1  wherein a first one of said double helical threads extends outwardly a first distance and a second one of said double helical threads extends outwardly a second distance, said first distance being larger than said second distance. 
     
     
         3 . The pole of  claim 1  wherein said pole further includes an intermediate segment between said upper segment and said lower tapered segment, said intermediate segment tapering inwardly from a point adjacent said upper segment to a point adjacent said lower tapered segment. 
     
     
         4 . The pole of  claim 1  wherein said pole is formed of a metallic material. 
     
     
         5 . The pole of  claim 2  wherein said pole is formed of a plastic material. 
     
     
         6 . The pole of  claim 2  wherein said first one of said threads extends outwardly a distance of between 5.0 mm and 7.5 mm. 
     
     
         7 . The pole of  claim 6  wherein said second one of said threads extends outwardly a distance of between 2.5 mm and 4.0 mm. 
     
     
         8 . The pole of  claim 1  wherein said helical threads have a lead of between 1 cm and 4 cm. 
     
     
         9 . The pole of  claim 2  wherein said pole includes means for supporting one or more objects thereon. 
     
     
         10 . The pole of  claim 1  further including an intermediate tapered section intermediate said lower tapered segment and said upper segment.
