Claims

Abstract

An image forming apparatus includes an image forming unit configured to form an image on a sheet based on image data, a control unit configured to control driving of the image forming unit, and a power supply unit configured to, if a factor for shifting from a power saving state to a standby state is detected, supply power to the image forming unit and the control unit. If a first type of factor is detected as the factor in the power saving state, the power supply unit supplies power to the control unit and the image forming unit, and the control unit restricts the driving of the image forming unit. If an instruction to perform a function of forming an image on a sheet is accepted, the control unit cancels restriction of the driving of the image forming unit.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A printing apparatus comprising:
 a printer;   a display;   a human sensor; and   a controller which controls the display to display a screen on a basis of a result of detection of the human sensor, and controls the printer to perform a specific operation that brings the printer into a state in which the printer is able to execute printing, on a basis of a user operation to the screen displayed on the display.   
     
     
         2 . The printing apparatus according to  claim 1 ,
 wherein the printer includes a photosensitive drum, and   wherein the specific operation is driving of the photosensitive drum.   
     
     
         3 . The printing apparatus according to  claim 1 ,
 wherein the printer includes a fixing device, and   wherein the specific operation is driving of the fixing device.   
     
     
         4 . The printing apparatus according to  claim 1 ,
 wherein, on the screen, a copy button that enables to display a setting screen for inputting a setting for executing copy is displayed, and   wherein the controller controls the printer to execute the specific operation on a basis of the copy button having been selected by a user.   
     
     
         5 . The printing apparatus according to  claim 1 ,
 wherein at least one of a first button and a second button is displayed on the screen,   wherein the controller controls the printer to execute the specific operation on a basis of the first button having been selected by a user, and   wherein the printer does not execute the specific operation on a basis of the second button having been selected by a user.   
     
     
         6 . The printing apparatus according to  claim 1 , wherein the human sensor is an infrared sensor receiving infrared rays. 
     
     
         7 . The printing apparatus according to  claim 1 , wherein the human sensor is an infrared array sensor including a plurality of infrared-ray receiving elements that each receives infrared ray. 
     
     
         8 . The printing apparatus according to  claim 1 , further comprising:
 a return button for receiving a user operation, and   wherein the controller controls the display to display the screen on a basis of the return button having received the user operation, and controls the printer to execute the specific operation on a basis of a user operation to the screen displayed on the display.   
     
     
         9 . The printing apparatus according to  claim 1 , wherein the controller controls the printer to execute the specific operation after the screen is displayed on the display and before an instruction to execute printing is received from a user. 
     
     
         10 . A method for controlling a printing apparatus including a printer, a display and a human sensor, the method comprising:
 controlling the display to display a screen on a basis of a result of detection of the human sensor; and   controlling the printer to perform a specific operation that brings the printer into a state in which the printer is able to execute printing, on a basis of a user operation to the screen displayed on the display.   
     
     
         11 . The method according to  claim 10 ,
 wherein the printer includes a photosensitive drum, and   wherein the specific operation is driving of the photosensitive drum.   
     
     
         12 . The method according to  claim 10 ,
 wherein the printer includes a fixing device, and   wherein the specific operation is driving of the fixing device.   
     
     
         13 . A printing apparatus comprising:
 a photosensitive drum;   a display;   a human sensor; and   a controller which controls the display to display a screen on a basis of a result of detection of the human sensor, and controls the photosensitive drum to drive on a basis of a user operation to the screen displayed on the display.   
     
     
         14 . The printing apparatus according to  claim 13 , further comprising:
 a motor configured to rotate the photosensitive drum,   wherein the controller controls the photosensitive drum to rotate on a basis of the user operation to the screen displayed on the display.   
     
     
         15 . The printing apparatus according to  claim 13 ,
 wherein, on the screen, a copy button that enables to display a setting screen for inputting a setting for executing copy is displayed, and   wherein the controller controls the photosensitive drum to drive on a basis of the copy button having been selected by a user.   
     
     
         16 . The printing apparatus according to  claim 13 ,
 wherein at least one of a first button and a second button is displayed on the screen;   wherein the controller controls the photosensitive drum to drive on a basis of the first button having been selected by a user, and   wherein the photosensitive drum does not drive on a basis of the second button having been selected by a user.   
     
     
         17 . The printing apparatus according to  claim 13 , wherein the human sensor is an infrared sensor receiving infrared rays. 
     
     
         18 . The printing apparatus according to  claim 13 , wherein the human sensor is an infrared array sensor including a plurality of infrared-ray receiving elements that each receives infrared ray. 
     
     
         19 . The printing apparatus according to  claim 13 , further comprising:
 a return button for receiving a user operation, and   wherein the controller controls the display to display the screen on a basis of the return button having received the user operation, and controls the photosensitive drum to drive on a basis of a user operation to the screen displayed on the display.   
     
     
         20 . The printing apparatus according to  claim 13 , wherein the controller controls the photosensitive drum to drive after the screen is displayed on the display and before an instruction to execute printing is received from a user. 
     
     
         21 . A method for controlling a printing apparatus including a photosensitive drum, a display and a human sensor, the method comprising:
 controlling the display to display a screen on a basis of a result of detection of the human sensor; and   controlling the photosensitive drum to drive on a basis of a user operation to the screen displayed on the display.
