Quality of service based resource determination and allocation apparatus and procedure in high speed packet access evolution and long term evolution systems
Abstract
A wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU) and method are provided that process communication data in a hierarchy of processing layers including a physical (PHY) layer, a medium access control (MAC) layer and higher layers. A MAC layer transport format selection device defines an assignment of higher layer transmission data to parallel data streams based on data characteristics received from higher layers and physical resource information received from the PHY layer. The transport format selection also device generates transport format parameters for each data stream. A multiplexer component multiplexes the transmission data onto the parallel data streams in transport blocks in accordance with the data stream assignment and the respective transport format parameters generated by the transport format selection device and outputs the selectively multiplexed transmission data to the PHY layer for transmission over respective physical resource partitions. Preferably, the transport format selection device also generates physical transmission attributes such as modulation and coding rate (MCR), number of subframes per transmission time interval (TTI), duration of TTI, transmission power and hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) parameters.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU), comprising:
means for receiving, for each of a plurality of physical resources, respective radio resource control (RRC) parameters; means for assigning radio bearer data to a plurality of allocated subchannel partitions of the plurality of physical resources based on the respective RRC parameters to generate a plurality of data streams; means for generating a plurality of transport blocks from the plurality of data streams based on respective transport formats; and means for transmitting, in a common transmission time interval, first and second transport blocks of the plurality of transport blocks on respective first and second allocated subchannel partitions of the plurality of allocated subchannel partitions.
2 . The WTRU of claim 1 wherein for each of the plurality of physical resources, a respective transport format combination (TFC) is selected.
3 . The WTRU of claim 2 , wherein the respective TFC selected for a first physical resource of the plurality of physical resources is selected independently from the respective TFC selected for a second physical resource of the plurality of physical resources.
4 . The WTRU of claim 1 wherein the plurality of physical resources are partitioned by frequency.
5 . A method performed by a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU), comprising:
receiving, for each of a plurality of physical resources, respective radio resource control (RRC) parameters; assigning radio bearer data to a plurality of allocated subchannel partitions of the plurality of physical resources based on the respective RRC parameters to generate a plurality of data streams; generating a plurality of transport blocks from the plurality of data streams based on respective transport formats; and transmitting, in a common transmission time interval, first and second transport blocks of the plurality of transport blocks on respective first and second allocated subchannel partitions of the plurality of allocated subchannel partitions.
6 . The method of claim 5 , further comprising:
selecting a respective transport format combination (TFC) for each of the plurality of physical resources.
7 . The method of claim 6 , wherein selecting the respective TFC for each of the plurality of physical resources comprises selecting the respective TFC for a first physical resources of the plurality of physical resources independently from the respective TFC selected for a second physical resource of the plurality of physical resources.
8 . The method of claim 5 , wherein the plurality of physical resources are partitioned by frequency.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
