Abstract

Described herein are compositions and methods useful to treat cancers. In addition, the present invention provides screening assays, diagnostic assays, methods to prognose, methods to treat, and kits.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

1 . A composition of matter comprising one or more peptides, or a conserved variant thereof, selected from the group consisting of: A-8R [SEQ ID NO: 1], TP7-8R [SEQ ID NO: 12], TF6-8R [SEQ ID NO: 14], FP6-8R [SEQ ID NO: 16], FF5-C2M-8R [SEQ ID NO: 18], and TC3-8R [SEQ ID NO: 32].

2 . The composition of claim 1 , wherein the conserved variant having SEQ ID NOs: 12, 14, 16, or 18, has an amide moiety cap on the carboxy terminus.

3 . The composition of claim 1 , wherein the conserved variant having SEQ ID NOs: 1, 28 or 32, has an OH on the carboxy terminus.

4 . The composition of claim 1 , wherein the conserved variant comprising an amino acid sequence conserving the TFGRRRRRRR of the TFCRRRRRRRR sequence [SEQ ID NO: 32].

5 . The composition of claim 1 , wherein the conserved variant comprising an amino acid sequence conserving the TFGRRRRRR of the TFCRRRRRRRR sequence [SEQ ID NO: 32].

         6 . A pharmaceutical composition comprising:
 a composition of claim 1 ; and a pharmaceutically-acceptable carrier.

7 . The composition of claim 1 , further comprising a chemotherapeutic agent.

8 . The composition of claim 4 , wherein the chemotherapeutic agent is etoposide.

9 . A protein comprising a variant amino acid sequence that is at least 70% identical to one or more peptides selected from the group consisting of: A-8R [SEQ ID NO: 1], TP7-8R [SEQ ID NO: 12], TF6-8R [SEQ ID NO: 14], FP6-8R [SEQ ID NO: 16], FF5-C2M-8R [SEQ ID NO: 18], and TC3-8R [SEQ ID NO: 32].

10 . The protein of claim 10 , wherein the amino acid sequence is at least 90% identical to one or more peptides selected from the group consisting of: A-8R [SEQ ID NO: 1], TP7-8R [SEQ ID NO: 12], TF6-8R [SEQ ID NO: 14], FP6-8R [SEQ ID NO: 16], FF5-C2M-8R [SEQ ID NO: 18], and TC3-8R [SEQ ID NO: 32].

11 . The protein of claim 10 , wherein the amino acid sequence comprises the TFGRRRRRRR amino acid sequence of the TFCRRRRRRRR sequence [SEQ ID NO: 32].

12 . The protein of claim 10 , wherein the amino acid sequence comprises the TFGRRRRRR amino acid sequence of the TFCRRRRRRRR sequence [SEQ ID NO: 32].

13 . A method of inhibiting tumor growth in a subject in need thereof, comprising introducing a tumor growth-inhibiting amount of a composition of claim 1 to the subject and inhibiting tumor growth.

14 . A method of treating a cancer, comprising administering to a subject in need thereof an effective amount of the composition of claim 1 .

15 . The method of claim 14 , wherein the cancer is selected from the group consisting of: neuroblastoma, lung cancer, bile duct cancer, non small cell lung carcinoma, hepatocellular carcinoma, lymphoma, nasopharyngeal carcinoma, ovarian cancer, head and neck squamous cell carcinoma, squamous cell cervical carcinoma, gastric cancer, colon cancer, uterine cervical carcinoma, gall bladder cancer, prostate cancer, breast cancer, testicular germ cell tumors, large cell lymphoma, follicular lymphoma, colorectal cancer, malignant pleural mesothelioma, glioma, thyroid cancer, basal cell carcinoma, T cell lymphoma, t(8;17)-prolyphocytic leukemia, myelodysplastic syndrome, pancreatic cancer, t(5;14)(q35.1;q32.2) leukemia, malignant fibrous histiocytoma, gastrointestinal stromal tumor, hepatoblastoma, colorectal cancer, endometrial cancer, ovarian cancer, gastric cancer, and urothelial cancer.
