Abstract

The present invention provides compositions and methods for the control and management of wildlife populations (including domesticated animals) and pests such as rodents, birds including geese, deer and other herbivores such as rabbits, ground hogs, raccoons, moose and elk, tunneling animals such as moles, voles and gophers and insects, carnivores and other organisms such as predators. Specifically provided are FIFRA exemption-based formulations which may be applied to natural or artificial surfaces.

1 . An animal repellent composition comprising:
 geraniol in an amount of from about 5 to about 10 weight percent;   rosemary oil in an amount of from about 2 to about 8 weight percent;   mint oil in an amount of from about 0.3 to about 5.5 weight percent;   castor oil in an amount of from about 6 to about 12 weight percent;   mineral oil; and   at least one thickener.   
     
     
         2 . The animal repellent composition of  claim 1 , wherein said at least one thickener is selected from one or more of kaolin clay and xanthan gum. 
     
     
         3 . The animal repellent composition of  claim 2  comprising from about 0.1 to about 2 weight percent kaolin clay. 
     
     
         4 . The animal repellent composition of  claim 2  comprising from about 0.1 to about 0.5 weight percent xanthan gum. 
     
     
         5 . The animal repellent composition of  claim 1 , wherein said composition is diluted with 5 to 25 parts water before use. 
     
     
         6 . A method of repelling an animal comprising:
 obtaining an animal repellent composition, said animal repellent composition comprising:
 geraniol in an amount of from about 5 to 10 weight percent; 
 rosemary oil in an amount of from about 2 to about 8 weight percent; 
 mint oil in an amount of from about 0.3 to about 5.5 weight percent; 
 castor oil in an amount of from about 6 to about 12 weight percent; 
 mineral oil; and 
 at least one thickener; 
   diluting said animal repellent composition with 5 to 25 parts water; and   applying said animal repellent composition to a surface, substrate, or area.   
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 6 , wherein said surface, substrate, or area comprises a ribbon. 
     
     
         8 . The method of  claim 6 , wherein said surface, substrate, or area comprises a hard surface. 
     
     
         9 . The method of  claim 6 , wherein said surface, substrate, or area comprises a plant surface. 
     
     
         10 . The method of  claim 6 , wherein applying said animal repellent composition is carried out by spraying.
