Abstract
Technologies and implementations for facilitating and participating in bandwidth auctions are generally disclosed.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWe claim:
1 . A method for facilitating a mobile bandwidth auction comprising:
receiving a first bandwidth submission from a first bandwidth source, the first bandwidth submission having a first bandwidth submission quantity, a first bandwidth submission timing, and a first bandwidth submission location; receiving a second bandwidth submission from a second bandwidth source, the second bandwidth submission having a second bandwidth submission quantity, a second bandwidth submission timing, and a second bandwidth submission location; pooling and arranging the first bandwidth submission and the second bandwidth submission to provide a pool of bandwidth for auction; receiving a plurality of bandwidth bid requests from a plurality of bandwidth requestors, each of the plurality of bandwidth bid requests having a bandwidth request quantity, a bandwidth request timing, a bandwidth request bid price, and a bandwidth request location; performing an auction on the pool of bandwidth for auction to determine a bid win for at least a portion of bandwidth; and transmitting a bid win notification based on the bid win to a bandwidth bid winner, the bid win notification including a bandwidth bid win quantity, a bandwidth bid win timing, a bandwidth bid win location, a bandwidth bid win price, a bandwidth provider and a bandwidth activation token.
2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
transmitting a bid receipt confirmation to each of the plurality of bandwidth requestors.
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein performing the auction comprises performing a Vickrey-Clarke-Gloves (VCG) auction.
4 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
receiving a user payment from the bandwidth bid winner; and transmitting a provider payment to the bandwidth provider.
5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the bandwidth bid win location comprises a boundary defining a bandwidth usability area.
6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the receiving a first bandwidth submission from a first bandwidth source is performed in response to a first bandwidth submission request and the receiving a second bandwidth submission from a second bandwidth source is performed in response to a second bandwidth submission request.
7 . The method of claim 6 , wherein the first bandwidth submission request and the second bandwidth submission request are provided based on a high demand for bandwidth, on a regular schedule, or at times of expected high bandwidth use.
8 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
generating a bandwidth submission receipt confirmation; and transmitting the bandwidth submission receipt confirmation to the bandwidth provider.
9 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the pooling and the arranging the first bandwidth submission and the second bandwidth submission comprise arranging the first bandwidth submission quantity and the second bandwidth submission quantity into useable segments of a certain bandwidth and a certain duration.
10 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the bid receipt confirmation includes a time stamp or a token that confirms receipt.
11 . The method of claim 4 , wherein the user payment or the provider comprises at least one of a currency based payment or a virtual currency based payment.
12 . A server, comprising:
at least one processor configured to: receive a first bandwidth submission from a first bandwidth source, the first bandwidth submission having a first bandwidth submission quantity, a first bandwidth submission timing, and a first bandwidth submission location; receive a second bandwidth submission from a second bandwidth source, the second bandwidth submission having a second bandwidth submission quantity, a second bandwidth submission timing, and a second bandwidth submission location; pool and arrange the first bandwidth submission and the second bandwidth submission to provide a pool of bandwidth for auction; receive a plurality of bandwidth bid requests from a plurality of bandwidth requestors, each of the plurality of bandwidth bid requests having a bandwidth request quantity, a bandwidth request timing, a bandwidth request bid price, and a bandwidth request location; perform an auction on the pool of bandwidth for auction to determine a bid win for at least a portion of bandwidth; and transmit a bid win notification based on the bid win to a bandwidth bid winner, the bid win notification including a bandwidth bid win quantity, a bandwidth bid win timing, a bandwidth bid win location, a bandwidth bid win price, a bandwidth provider and a bandwidth activation token.
13 . The server of claim 12 , wherein the at least one processor is further configured to transmit a bid receipt confirmation to each of the plurality of bandwidth requestors.
14 . The server of claim 12 , wherein the auction includes a Vickrey-Clarke-Gloves (VCG) auction.
15 . The server of claim 12 , wherein the at least one processor is further configured to receive a user payment from the bandwidth bid winner, and transmit a provider payment to the bandwidth provider.
16 . The server of claim 12 , wherein the bandwidth bid win location comprises a boundary defining a bandwidth usability area.
17 . The server of claim 12 , wherein the at least one processor is further configured to generate a bandwidth submission receipt confirmation, and transmit the bandwidth submission receipt confirmation to the bandwidth provider.
18 . The server of claim 12 , wherein the at least one processor is further configured to determine a number of bandwidth submissions to receive.
19 . A non-transitory computer-readable medium that stores executable-instructions that, when executed, cause a server to perform operations comprising:
receiving a first bandwidth submission from a first bandwidth source, the first bandwidth submission having a first bandwidth submission quantity, a first bandwidth submission timing, and a first bandwidth submission location; receiving a second bandwidth submission from a second bandwidth source, the second bandwidth submission having a second bandwidth submission quantity, a second bandwidth submission timing, and a second bandwidth submission location; pooling and arranging the first bandwidth submission and the second bandwidth submission to provide a pool of bandwidth for auction; receiving a plurality of bandwidth bid requests from a plurality of bandwidth requestors, each of the plurality of bandwidth bid requests having a bandwidth request quantity, a bandwidth request timing, a bandwidth request bid price, and a bandwidth request location; performing an auction on the pool of bandwidth for auction to determine a bid win for at least a portion of bandwidth; and transmitting a bid win notification based on the bid win to a bandwidth bid winner, the bid win notification including a bandwidth bid win quantity, a bandwidth bid win timing, a bandwidth bid win location, a bandwidth bid win price, a bandwidth provider and a bandwidth activation token.
20 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 19 , wherein the operations further comprise:
transmitting a bid receipt confirmation to each of the plurality of bandwidth requestors.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
