Abstract

A vacuum storage bag not requiring the use of an external vacuum source. With a resilient sponge compressible polymeric material mass such as a rectangular sheet or any shape of sufficient thickness that is an integral part of an opposing wall of storage bag, a vacuum can be produced by compressing sponge within this sealable bag. The sponge being an integral part of inner bag wall will not shift and interfere with a valve or bag closure. By compressing the resilient sponge material/resilient mass flattening or rolling contents along with a food product/dry goods or any other material that is to be stored, and forcing the air volume out of the sealable bag, utilizing one of the many valved zipper closures or pinch rail valve closure systems expelling the air. Any residual air not exhausted from bag will mostly be trapped within sponge material when sponge expands.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A vacuum storage bag comprising;
 a polymeric film material that makes up the wails of the vacuum storage bag;   an inert, compressible, resilient, expanded polymeric sponge material that is an integral part of an opposing wall of the vacuum storage bag;   and an airtight, sealable end of that will stop migration of gases in or out of the vacuum storage bag.   
     
     
         2 . A vacuum storage bag according to  claim 1  wherein the polymeric film material has a thickness of 0.90-8.5 mil. 
     
     
         3 . A vacuum storage bag according to  claim 1  wherein the expanded polymeric sponge material is an inert material. 
     
     
         4 . A vacuum storage bag according to  claim 1  wherein the sealable end is a rail type seal. 
     
     
         5 . A vacuum storage bag comprising:
 a polymeric film material that makes up the walls of the vacuum storage bag;   an inert, compressible, resilient, expanded polymeric sponge material that is an integral part of one wall of the vacuum storage bag;   an airtight sealable end of bag that will stop migration of gases in or out of the vacuum storage bag;   and a one way valve.   
     
     
         6 . A vacuum storage bag according to  claim 5  wherein the polymeric film material has a thickness of 0.90-8.5 mil. 
     
     
         7 . A vacuum storage bag according to  claim 5  wherein the expanded polymeric sponge material is an inert material. 
     
     
         8 . A vacuum storage bag according to  claim 5  wherein the sealable end is a rail type seal. 
     
     
         9 . A vacuum storage bag according to  claim 5  wherein the one-way valve is an aperture type. 
     
     
         10 . A vacuum storage bag comprising:
 a polymeric film material that makes up the walls of the vacuum storage bag;   an inert, compressible, resilient, expanded polymeric sponge material that is affixed to an opposing wall of the vacuum storage bag;   and an airtight, sealable end of that will stop migration of gases in or out of the vacuum storage bag.   
     
     
         11 . A vacuum storage bag according to  claim 10  wherein the polymeric film material has a thickness of 0.90-8.5 mil. 
     
     
         12 . A vacuum storage bag according to  claim 10  wherein the expanded polymeric sponge material is an inert material. 
     
     
         13 . A vacuum storage bag according to  claim 10  wherein the sealable end is a rail type seal. 
     
     
         14 . A vacuum storage bag comprising;
 a polymeric film material that makes up the walls of the vacuum storage bag:   an inert, compressible, resilient, expanded polymeric sponge material that is affixed to an opposing wall or heat welded of the vacuum storage bag;   an airtight, sealable end of that will stop migration of gases in or out of the vacuum storage bag.   and a one-way valve.   
     
     
         15 . A vacuum storage bag according to  claim 14  wherein the polymeric film material has a thickness of 0.90-8.5 mil. 
     
     
         16 . A vacuum storage bag according to  claim 14  wherein the expanded polymeric sponge material is an inert material. 
     
     
         17 . A vacuum storage bag according to  claim 14  wherein the sealable end is a rail type seal. 
     
     
         18 . A vacuum storage bag according to  claim 14  wherein the one-way valve is an aperture type.
