Printing apparatus, control method thereof, and storage medium

Abstract

The present invention provides a printing apparatus which prints an image on a sheet, the apparatus comprising a reception unit configured to receive a print job for instructing to print a plurality of pages consisting of a plurality of copies, each of which has not less than one page, and a display unit configured to display print contents on a screen based on the print job received by the reception unit, wherein in a case where the print job contains information indicating the number of pages in one set that should perform finishing processing, the display unit determines the number of copies based on the information and the number of pages in the plurality of pages, and displays, on the screen, the determined number of copies and an preview image on each page in one copy as the print contents.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A printing apparatus which prints an image on a sheet, the apparatus comprising:
 a reception unit configured to receive a print job for instructing to print a plurality of pages consisting of a plurality of copies, each of which has not less than one page; and   a display unit configured to display print contents on a screen based on the print job received by the reception unit,   wherein in a case where the print job contains information indicating the number of pages in one set that should perform finishing processing, the display unit determines the number of copies based on the information and the number of pages in the plurality of pages, and displays, on the screen, the determined number of copies and an preview image on each page in one copy as the print contents.   
     
     
         2 . The apparatus according to  claim 1 , further comprising a printing unit configured to print, in accordance with a print instruction from a user, images on the plurality of pages on respective sheets after the print contents are displayed on the screen. 
     
     
         3 . The apparatus according to  claim 1 , further comprising a judgment unit configured to judge an arrangement type of the plurality of pages,
 wherein in a case where the judgment unit judges that an arrangement of the plurality of pages is an arrangement for performing collation printing, the display unit determines, as the number of copies, a value obtained by dividing the number of pages in the plurality of pages by the number of pages in one set in the information.

The apparatus according to  claim 3 , wherein in a case where the judgment unit judges that the arrangement of the plurality of pages is the arrangement for performing collation printing, the display unit extracts successive pages by the number of pages in one set in the information from the plurality of pages and displays, on the screen, preview images on the extracted pages as preview images on respective pages in one copy. 
     
     
         5 . The apparatus according to  claim 4 , further comprising a rendering unit configured to perform rendering on the pages extracted by the display unit, and
 a copying unit configured to copy, by the number of copies, the pages that have performed rendering by the rendering unit.   
     
     
         6 . The apparatus according to  claim 1 , further comprising a judgment unit configured to judge an arrangement type of the plurality of pages,
 wherein in a case where the judgment unit judges that an arrangement of the plurality of pages is an arrangement for performing group printing, the display unit determines the number of pages in one set in the information as the number of copies.   
     
     
         7 . The apparatus according to  claim 6 , wherein in a case where the judgment unit judges that the arrangement of the plurality of pages is the arrangement for performing group printing, the display unit extracts pages every number of pages in one set in the information from the plurality of pages and displays, on the screen, preview images on the extracted pages as preview images on respective pages in one copy. 
     
     
         8 . The apparatus according to  claim 6 , further comprising a rendering unit configured to perform rendering on the pages extracted by the display unit, and
 a copying unit configured to copy, by the number of copies, the pages that have performed rendering by the rendering unit.   
     
     
         9 . The apparatus according to  claim 3 , wherein the judgment unit judges the arrangement type of the plurality of pages by comparing stream data on the plurality of respective pages. 
     
     
         10 . The apparatus according to  claim 3 , wherein the judgment unit judges the arrangement of the plurality of pages by comparing thumbnail images on the plurality of respective pages. 
     
     
         11 . A control method of a printing apparatus which prints an image on a sheet, the method comprising:
 receiving, by a reception unit, a print job for instructing to print a plurality of pages consisting of a plurality of copies, each of which has not less than one page; and   displaying, by a display unit, print contents on a screen based on the print job received in the receiving,   wherein in a case where the print job contains information indicating the number of pages in one set that should perform finishing processing, in the displaying, the number of copies is determined based on the information and the number of pages in the plurality of pages, and the determined number of copies and an preview image on each page in one copy are displayed as the print contents on the screen.   
     
     
         12 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing a program for causing a computer to execute each step of a control method of a printing apparatus which prints an image on a sheet, the method comprising:
 receiving, by a reception unit, a print job for instructing to print a plurality of pages consisting of a plurality of copies, each of which has not less than one page; and   displaying, by a display unit, print contents on a screen based on the print job received in the receiving,   wherein in a case where the print job contains information indicating the number of pages in one set that should perform finishing processing, in the displaying, the number of copies is determined based on the information and the number of pages in the plurality of pages, and the determined number of copies and an preview image on each page in one copy are displayed as the print contents on the screen.
