Abstract

An optical module for connecting a ferrule for connecting an optical fiber and a photoelectric transducer mounted on a substrate. The optical module includes first lenses provided on a first side of the optical module to which the ferrule is to be connected, second lenses provided on a second side of the optical module facing the substrate, an inclined plane provided between the first lenses and the second lenses, and inclined with respect to a surface of the substrate, and a guide hole formed in the inclined plane, to which a guide pin of the ferrule is inserted.

What is claimed is 
     
         1 . An optical module for connecting a ferrule for connecting an optical fiber and a photoelectric transducer mounted on a substrate, the optical module comprising:
 first lenses provided on a first side of the optical module to which the ferrule is to be connected;   second lenses provided on a second side of the optical module facing the substrate;   an inclined plane provided between the first lenses and the second lenses, and inclined with respect to a surface of the substrate; and   a guide hole formed in the inclined plane, to which a guide pin of the ferrule is inserted.   
     
     
         2 . The optical module as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein the guide hole penetrates the inclined plane. 
     
     
         3 . The optical module as claimed in  claim 1 , further comprising:
 an insertion hole to which a part of the ferrule is inserted;   wherein the inclined plane is formed in the insertion hole.   
     
     
         4 . The optical module as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein the inclined plane and the surface of the substrate form an angle of 45 degrees. 
     
     
         5 . An optical module for connecting, a ferrule for connecting an optical fiber and a photoelectric transducer mounted on a substrate, the optical module comprising:
 a first lens and a second lens provided on a same side of the optical module; and   a dummy lens provided on the optical module,   wherein, the first lens, the second lens, and the dummy lens are aligned on the same line.   
     
     
         6 . The optical module as claimed in  claim 5 , wherein the dummy lens is provided between the first lens and the second lens. 
     
     
         7 . A method for inspecting an optical module for connecting a ferrule for connecting an optical fiber and a photoelectric transducer mounted on a substrate, the optical module including lenses, and an inclined plane, the method comprising:
 measuring a position of at least one of a guide hole provided on the inclined plane to which a guide pin of the ferrule is inserted, or a dummy lens provided on the optical module ; and   determining a position of the lenses based on the measured position.
