Abstract
A system and method may include identifying a virtual machine setting associated with a virtual machine, obtaining system specification information associated with a computer, and generating validation information based on the system specification information and the virtual machine setting. The system and method may further include determining whether to deploy the virtual machine to the computer based on the validation information.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 - 21 . (canceled)
22 . A system for deploying and managing virtual machines on a host computer, the system comprising:
a virtual machine identification module configured to:
identify a plurality of virtual machines on a host computer, and
add the plurality of virtual machines to a master catalog of virtual machines available to the host computer;
a grouping module configured to group the plurality of virtual machines in the master catalog of virtual machines into one or more virtual infrastructures;
a virtual networking module configured to virtually network the plurality of virtual machines in each of the one or more virtual infrastructures; and
a deployment module is configured to deploy the plurality of virtual machines on the host computer.
23 . The system of claim 22 , wherein the virtual machine identification module identifies the plurality of virtual machines automatically by searching the host computer.
24 . The system of claim 22 , wherein the virtual machine identification module identifies the plurality of virtual machines automatically by searching one or more data storage locations accessible to the host computer.
25 . The system of claim 22 , wherein the grouping module groups the virtual machines into the one or more virtual infrastructures based on user input.
26 . The system of claim 22 , wherein each virtual infrastructure comprises virtual machines that are compatible with one another.
27 . The system of claim 22 , wherein each virtual infrastructure comprises virtual machines that are not compatible with one another.
28 . The system of claim 22 , wherein virtual machines in each virtual infrastructure are controlled as a group.
29 . The system of claim 28 , wherein virtual machines in each virtual infrastructure are configured with identical settings.
30 . The system of claim 28 , wherein resources of the host computer are allocated to each virtual infrastructure as a group.
31 . The system of claim 22 , wherein the virtual networking module is further configured to assign settings to each virtual infrastructure by:
receiving an indication of each virtual machine's role in the virtual infrastructure; assigning settings to the virtual infrastructure based on the indication of each virtual machine's role in the virtual infrastructure.
32 . The system of claim 22 , further comprising:
a retirement module configured to archive one or more retired virtual infrastructures or virtual machines.
33 . The system of claim 22 , wherein the deployment module is configured to deploy the plurality of virtual machines on the host computer in response to information received from the host computer.
34 . A method for deploying and managing virtual machines on a host computer, the method comprising:
identifying a plurality of virtual machines to be deployed on a host computer; deploying the plurality of virtual machines on the host computer; adding the plurality of virtual machines to a master catalog of virtual machines available to the host computer; grouping the plurality of virtual machines in the master catalog of virtual machines into one or more virtual infrastructures; and virtually networking the plurality of virtual machines in each of the one or more virtual infrastructures.
35 . The method of claim 34 , further comprising:
generating the master catalog of virtual machines automatically by searching the host computer.
36 . The method of claim 34 , further comprising:
generating the master catalog of virtual machines automatically by searching one or more data storage locations accessible to the host computer.
37 . The method of claim 34 , wherein each virtual infrastructure comprises virtual machines that are compatible with one another.
38 . The method of claim 34 , wherein each virtual infrastructure comprises virtual machines that are not compatible with one another.
39 . The method of claim 34 , further comprising assigning settings to each virtual infrastructure by:
receiving an indication of each virtual machine's role in the virtual infrastructure; assigning settings to the virtual infrastructure based on the indication of each virtual machine's role in the virtual infrastructure.
40 . The method of claim 34 , further comprising:
archiving one or more retired virtual infrastructures or virtual machines.
41 . A system for deploying and managing virtual machines on a host computer, the system comprising:
one or more processors; and a non-transitory, computer-readable storage medium in operable communication with the processor, wherein the computer-readable storage medium contains one or more programming instructions that, when executed, cause the one or more processors to: identify a plurality of virtual machines on a host computer, and add the plurality of virtual machines to a master catalog of virtual machines available to the host computer; group the plurality of virtual machines in the master catalog of virtual machines into one or more virtual infrastructures; virtually network the plurality of virtual machines in each of the one or more virtual infrastructures; and deploy the plurality of virtual machines on the host computer.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
