Abstract
A foundation retention system for retaining a top plate on a block foundation includes a foundation. A member is positioned on the foundation. A plurality of fastening units is provided. Each of the fastening units is coupled between the foundation and the member such that the member is retained on the foundation.

a foundation; a member being positioned on said foundation; and a plurality of fastening units, each of said fastening units being coupled between said foundation and said member such that said member is retained on said foundation, wherein each of said fastening units comprises a plate having a first end, a second end and a top side extending between said first end and said second end, said plate being elongated between said first end and said second end; said foundation including a top row of stacked blocks, each of said top row of stacked blocks having a bottom side, said plate being positioned beneath an associated one of said top row of stacked blocks such that said top side of said plate abuts said bottom side of said associated top row of stacked blocks, each of said top row of stacked blocks has an opening, said opening in each of said top row of stacked blocks having a pair of bounding walls, each of said first end and said second end extending beyond an associated one of said bounding walls of said opening such that said plate is inhibited from being urged upwardly through said opening in said associated top row of stacked blocks; and a first nut being coupled to said top side of said plate, said first nut being centrally positioned between said first end and said second end of said plate and centrally positioned between opposed sides of said plate.

The system according to claim 1 , wherein said foundation comprises a plurality of stacked blocks, said plurality of stacked blocks including a top row of said stacked blocks, said top row of stacked blocks having a bottom side, a top side and an opening extending through said top side and said bottom side, said opening having a pair of bounding walls.
3 . The system according to claim 2 , wherein said member is positioned to abut said top side of said top row of stacked blocks.

9 . The system according to claim 1 , further comprising a bolt having a top end and a bottom end, said bottom end threadably engaging said first nut such that said bolt extends upwardly through said opening and upwardly through said member.
10 . The system according to claim 9 , further comprising a second nut threadably engaging said top end of said bolt, said second nut engaging said member such that said second nut urges said member downwardly against said top side of said top row of blocks.
11 . A foundation retention system comprising:
a foundation comprising a plurality of stacked blocks, said plurality of stacked blocks including a top row of said stacked blocks, said top row of stacked blocks having a bottom side, a top side and an opening extending through said top side and said bottom side, said opening having a pair of bounding walls; a member being positioned on said foundation, said member being positioned to abut said top side of said top row of stacked blocks; and a plurality of fastening units, each of said fastening units being coupled between said foundation and said member such that said member is retained on said foundation, each of said fastening units comprising:
a plate having a first end, a second end and a top side extending between said first end and said second end, said plate being elongated between said first end and said second end, said plate being positioned beneath an associated one of said top row of stacked blocks such that said top side of said plate abuts said bottom side of said associated top row of stacked blocks, each of said first end and said second end extending beyond an associated one of said bounding walls of said opening such that said plate is inhibited from being urged upwardly through said opening in said associated top row of stacked blocks,
a first nut being coupled to said top side of said plate, said first nut being centrally positioned between said first end and said second end and centrally positioned between opposed sides of said plate,
a bolt having a top end and a bottom end, said bottom end threadably engaging said first nut such that said bolt extends upwardly perpendicularly from and aligned with a center of said plate and through said opening and upwardly through said member, and
