Abstract
A method and system are provided for denying an application service request, such as a Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) request, on wireless and wireline Internet Protocol (IP) Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) networks or Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) networks. In one example, the method includes receiving a request for an application service from a user via a transport network, determining to deny the request, and providing a response corresponding to the denial of the request to the user via the transport network.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A computer-implemented method comprising:
sending a registration request to a Session Initiated Protocol (SIP) registrar from an Application User Agent (AUA), the registration request associated with the AUA requesting one or more services via a relay or a server; responsive to sending the registration request, receiving, with the AUA and from the SIP registrar, a notice of non-authorization; sending, via the AUA and to the SIP registrar, one or more credentials associated with authenticating the AUA on an associated SIP network; and receiving, via the AUA and from the SIP registrar, a response that the one or more services via the relay or the server have been denied for the AUA.
2 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the AUA resides on a wireless mobile device.
3 . The computer-implemented method of claim 2 , wherein the one or more services reside on at least a second wireless mobile device.
4 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the notice of non-authorization further comprises a SIP “ 401 unauthorized”
5 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein sending the registration request further comprises sending the registration request utilizing a wireless network.
6 . The computer-implemented method of claim 5 , wherein the wireless network comprises a Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) wireless network.
7 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the AUA comprises a Multimedia Messaging Service (MSS) User Agent (UA).
8 . One or more computer-readable storage memories comprising processor-executable instructions which, responsive to execution by at least one processor, are configured to perform operations comprising:
sending a registration request to a Session Initiated Protocol (SIP) registrar from an Application User Agent (AUA), the registration request associated with the AUA requesting one or more services via a relay or a server; responsive to sending the registration request, receiving, with the AUA and from the SIP registrar, a notice of non-authorization; sending, via the AUA and to the SIP registrar, one or more credentials associated with authenticating the AUA on an associated SIP network; and receiving, via the AUA and from the SIP registrar, a response that the one or more services via the relay or the server have been denied for the AUA.
9 . The one or more computer-readable storage memories of claim 8 , wherein the AUA resides on a wireless mobile device.
10 . The one or more computer-readable storage memories of claim 9 , wherein the one or more services reside on at least a second wireless mobile device.
11 . The one or more computer-readable storage memories of claim 8 , wherein the notice of non-authorization further comprises a SIP “ 401 unauthorized”
12 . The one or more computer-readable storage memories of claim 8 , wherein sending the registration request further comprises sending the registration request utilizing a wireless network.
13 . The one or more computer-readable storage memories of claim 12 , wherein the wireless network comprises a Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) wireless network.
14 . The one or more computer-readable storage memories of claim 8 , wherein the AUA comprises a Multimedia Messaging Service (MSS) User Agent (UA).
15 . A device comprising:
at least one processor; and one or more computer-readable storage memories comprising processor-executable instructions which, responsive to execution by at least one processor, are configured to enable the device to: send a registration request to a Session Initiated Protocol (SIP) registrar from an Application User Agent (AUA), the registration request associated with the AUA requesting one or more services via a relay or a server; responsive to sending the registration request, receive, with the AUA and from the SIP registrar, a notice of non-authorization; send, via the AUA and to the SIP registrar, one or more credentials associated with authenticating the AUA on an associated SIP network; and receive, via the AUA and from the SIP registrar, a response that the one or more services via the relay or the server have been denied for the AUA.
16 . The device of claim 15 , wherein the device comprises a wireless mobile device.
17 . The device of claim 15 , wherein the notice of non-authorization further comprises a SIP “ 401 unauthorized”
18 . The device of claim 15 , wherein the processor-executable instructions to send the registration request are further configured to enable the device to send the registration request utilizing a wireless network.
19 . The device of claim 18 , wherein the wireless network comprises a Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) wireless network.
20 . The device of claim 15 , wherein the AUA comprises a Multimedia Messaging Service (MSS) User Agent (UA).Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
